This hotel is not really close to anything. It's in a very loud neighborhood so hard to sleep at night. It's far from retiro and atocha train station.

When we arrived, it was 95 degrees and they didn't have our room ready for 4 more hours and instead of the AC working in our room, the heater was working (even when we turned the AC on, the heater would come on). It took them a day and a half to fix it and they wouldn't give us a different room.

The room is really tiny and you can't really move around much. It's like a closet with a bathroom. There's no room to put your bags.

You have to take a metro to all the major sites in madrid. I would recommend that you stay at a hotel near retiro park instead of this one.

Very good hotel good location nice and quiet the only thing Is breakfast is 7.30 - 9.30 am which if u want a lay in u can't but u can always eat elsewhere as there are loads of restaurants a minutes walk away this hotel is in the middle of everything a nice clean room and the shower is brilliant it has so many gadgets on it and is great after a day in the sun the only problem is the receptionists don't speak very good English unless u speak to the manager who is very helpful and speaks good english good hotel stay there.

We stayed in this small hotel for two nights in Christmas season (very cold days and nights), but we only used the hotel for sleep (remember you are in a big city, so if your idea is to go there to enjoy hotel facilities [any hotel], just stay at home...).
For those who are looking for a budget place near everything (20m from Gran Via and 3 minutes walk from Puertas del Sol), with a clean and hot room (we also enjoyed breakfast), this is the place.
The staff was always helpfull and friendly.

This hotel was recommended by one of my best friends, so after a little research, we decided to book it.
We traveled to Madrid for a long weekend, and we needed to be close to everything, since it was going to be my girlfriend's first visit to Madrid.
The best about Negresco is its location... it is literally 1 minute walking from El Corte Ingles, about 4 minutes from Puerta del Sol, 8 minutes from Plaza Mayor, and about 8-10 minutes from Callao and Gran Via metro stations.
The rooms are small, but in good conditions... and the staff was real nice.
Overall, a great place to stay if you are looking for a place very well situated and with somewhat limited budget.
