“Good Location, Unhappy Staff”

Meh. That sums up our hotel experience. We were at Hotel Ingles at a low time of year and were given a room away from the street. The street is quite popular, but we had no problem with noise.

We went as a couple, but were given a room with 3 single beds. Spacious enough, but not exactly the sleeping situation we counted on.

The locations is really convenient for all of the museums and sites. We only took the metro to/from the airport. We walked everywhere else.

After living in Italy for some time, I have a bit of a thick skin when it comes to costumer service but man oh man. There will be no smiles here. It was the major downside of our stay. We were scared of the front desk!

At least they were willing to keep our bags for us for a couple hours after we checked out. Very begrudgingly, of course.

“Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

The hotel was conveniently located close to Puerta Del Sol, which gives you walking access to all of Madrid's famous shops, bars, and attractions.

The staff is a bit rude and not helpful, but that is an attitude all around the city.

“Good for the price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Stayed in Hotel Ingles in March 2011, it was overall good, the room was very spacious, it had plasma TV and basic amenities. It was a little updated because it is an old hotel, but it seemed cleaned and bed was comfortable. The only thing I did not like was the costumer service from receptionist (he had none) very rude, gave us wrong information twice and with an attitude all the time, really dislike him and he acted like he didnt care for his clients. The location is perfect in the middle of everything very close to the Puerta del Sol. Just one tip if you are coming from the airport by train, do not follow directions from the Hotel, we walked 5 blocks under the rain on the wrong direction, because the hotel gave us wrong info.

“Couldn't be more central- throw away your Metro pass”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

The Ingles has a great location on a quiet street a few minutes' walk from the Puerta del Sol. The staff are courteous and efficient and will point you towards an internet cafe a few doors away in case you need to check in for a flight. In the rooms and public areas the decor is well-kept and appropriate for a hotel of its vintage. My comfortable (single) room was quite small and looked out onto an airwell- not much of a view, but it meant that there was no noise from the street. My only gripe with the hotel is its lack of any bar, restaurant or coffee shop apart from a breakfast room- and please don't take breakfast here- just take a look at the buffet to get a taste of the Soviet Union at its worst.
