“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

We have stayed a lot of times at the Serrano Royal. Being half a block from Serrano it is a perfect base for visiting and shopping in Madrid. It has nice rooms with a lot of light - some bathrooms do not have a good ventilation - and prices are reasonable if you book in advance. The lobby is two flight of stairs from the street and there is no ramp. From the lobby the elevator serves all rooms. This is not a hotel for persons with mobility problems, but staff is there to help you with your baggage.

“Good stuff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011 via mobile

Stayed recently for a wedding in Spain and it was a great base for us. The rooms were well kept and all staff were polite and courteous. Reception staff are multi-lingual and the others are polite enough to help you stumble through your basic Spanish! :-). Breakfast is expensive, especially if you don't go inclusive, but you can easily fill up on a continental with muffins, pastries, cereal and fruit. There is a limited cooked breakfast (scrambled or fried eggs, bacon or frankfurters and that's pretty much it). A surprisingly small venue (only about 30 odd rooms in total). in the room the Walls aren't exactly thick but the room was arranged well (although you do get the continental version of a double room - two singles pushed together!). A good location right off the main cerra Serrano (the high street with all the expensive jewellery and clothes shops) and about 15 minutes walk from the main Madrid park a must-stop place to walk and relax!

“excellent, but watch the breakfast!”

Madrid is a difficult place to find a decent hotel in. We stayed for a weekend at the Husa Serrano, booked in advance and got a good price. The hotel is very well situated, central, quiet, and convenient for the main shopping streets and for the metro. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with good beds, bathrooms and lighting. Staff are courteous and considerate. We had an excellent visit. Two reservations. If you have a car (though we did not), parking is not easy. And the breakfasts are very expensive and rather scrappy, and you will not be warned that they are not included in the rate: they increased our costs by about 30%!

“Good location but in need of refurbishment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2007

The hotel is well situated, just off Serrano, but is definitely looking old and tired nowadays. The soft furnishings were shabby and threadbare in places, the paintwork in our room was chipped and dirty (and coming off the ceiling in a couple of places) and there was a tile missing in the bathroom. The cleaning staff seemed to be doing a good job, but there's a limit to what they can achieve because the basic fabric of the building needs attention.

Worst of all, we turned on the air conditioning and realised after 5 minutes that it was blowing hot air. When we told them at the desk and asked for another room they said that because it was late October the management had decreed that the cooling system should be turned off and so all the rooms would be receiving the same hot air. It was 26 degrees Centigrade outside at the time. I did try to point out that "air conditioning" implies cooling as well as heating but they said that there was nothing they could do about it.

We definitely will not stay there again.

“If less than 110 Euros, a great deal for this hotel!”

We got a great deal on Hotels for this hotel - 75 Euros. It's a 3.5 to a 4 star hotel. It's elegant, clean and provides great service. The area is safe. The staff are very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are large, great furniture, classy and clean. The subway "Ruben Dario" is about 5 minutes away. The buses and taxis are easily accessible too. Cortes Ingles, which is a main department store with a supermarket, is right around the corner. The neighbourhood is upscale. It's like the Rodeo Drive of Madrid. You have your Gucci, Louis Vutton, Armani stores around the corner. There are cafes around the area for breakfast/snacks. Taxi to Puerta Del Sol, which is the centre of main attractions is about 8 Euros and 10 minutes away. There is an elevator and luggage storage at this hotel. The best night club in town is El Kapital. It has 7 floors of all kinds of music playing. It's worth the 15-20 Euros cover charge at this night club. Dress up though. All the good looking tourists and people in Madrid go here!!! Had a blast in Madrid and a great stay at this hotel. If the price is right, I would stay here again!!!
