The hotel is well situated, just off Serrano, but is definitely looking old and tired nowadays. The soft furnishings were shabby and threadbare in places, the paintwork in our room was chipped and dirty (and coming off the ceiling in a couple of places) and there was a tile missing in the bathroom. The cleaning staff seemed to be doing a good job, but there's a limit to what they can achieve because the basic fabric of the building needs attention.
Worst of all, we turned on the air conditioning and realised after 5 minutes that it was blowing hot air. When we told them at the desk and asked for another room they said that because it was late October the management had decreed that the cooling system should be turned off and so all the rooms would be receiving the same hot air. It was 26 degrees Centigrade outside at the time. I did try to point out that "air conditioning" implies cooling as well as heating but they said that there was nothing they could do about it.
We definitely will not stay there again.
