“Needs a facelift but the price is right!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

The reception is small but modern and it is only when confronted with the one lift and 20 teenagers ahead that one gets the idea why this is a 2 star. Best to get some excercise and head for the stairs. The room is adequate and clean but there is a sense of the 1930s about it and the ensuite being an afterthought. My room had a double door entry but the ensuite blocked the use of one of the doors. The room was quite small and to use the writing desk I need to sit on the end of the bed.The verander doors appeared to be on their last legs but the window shutters worked keeping much of the traffic noise below to a reasonable level. Best one could say about this hotel is that it has character but the price for a city centre hotel made it more than reasonable. The cost of the internet was quite high so I hopped over to the local Starbucks for a coffee and a free hour on the internet when needed.

“Centrally located midrange hotel”

We stayed in this hotel for a very short time, only one night, because we had just to spend a night in Madrid between our flights. Arrived late and left the hotel early in the morning. We chose this accommodation due its convenient location right in the city center and close to Plaza Cibeles, from where buses run to the airport around the clock. Moreover we booked it with a significant discount through one of the hotel booking websites. Hotel`s own website didn`t offer such attractive rates. Our rate did not include breakfast and we didn`t need it due our early departure. Therefore we couldn`t evaluate their breakfast although I know that hotel provides it and has a restaurant.
The most remarkable feature for me during stay was the building itself, its impressive architecture. There were long winding corridors inside. The main elevator was out of order that night and we had to use a spare one, very small and old. Our room was ordinary, nothing special and required some refurbishment. Just two beds and a bathroom, clean and fresh linen - everything that is essential for a one night sleep.

“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The hotel was pretty nice. The location was great! The hop on hop off bus stop is just a short walk away! The hotel is fairly nice, although some things look worn out ( stairs clearly worn by traffic, some chippy paint , etc.) We had a little balcony looking out over the side street that I thought was pretty nice. We did not pay very much for the hotel so I was quite satisfied. What it lacked in looks it made up for in location!

One odd thing was that our headboard was about the size of a king size bed...but our bed was double at most :P and quite wiggly on its legs!!I thought it was on wheels at first haha!

If you are getting there by metro, best to get off at Plaza del sol rather than Sevilla(even if its on Sevilla street) . It is just follow Calle Mayor in the same direction as traffic, it takes you right to a little square and to your left, across the road is Asturias hotel :)

Very crowded areas.

Excellent location ...close to everything in Madrid.....very large rooms with all basic needs......i would rate it a 3 star not 2 as it says....only complaint was that all the receptionists have a big difficulty to smile and welcome guests. The restaurant people were very nice. I would definitley recommend this hotel

“Nice Hotel in the Center of the city..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

It is located in the center of the old city area...very close to Puerto del sol...If you are coming from Train station PTA.ATOCHA, then I think Metro will be a better option compared to the bus...
Well the location of the Hotel is fantastic, but the Hotel is quite old...they have maintained it OK, but the feel you get is that it is a old building....the rooms are spacious with lockers provided but it can hold only Cash or your passports not your laptops....they provide paid internet, so its not very nice...
The staff is good mannered, English speaking but not very enthusiastic to receive guests & do not give any additional good useful info apart from what is asked.....It is quite close to the bus stop of bus 150 which will take you to Real Madrid stadium...they have a bar downstairs but I did not see it to be functional for guests...It is located very close to the Puerto del sol area which is the most crowded & happening place to be in the evening, so if that is the criteria & jsut need a place to keep luggage and come back to sleep then this is a great Hotel as it is strategically located...So all and all I would say its a OK OK Hotel....
