The foyer is clean and functional, the lifts and corridors entirely functional, however, once you enter the room you find a continual stream of disappointments. A heavily worn and stained carpet, slightly grubby bathroom with a shower curtain of dubious hygiene, a bed that is too hard, pillows that are inadequate, heating that does not work (you need it in Madrid in November), a desk that is designed for people of pre school height, no electrical outlet and rather pathetic sound proofing. My colleague was woken at 06:30 by two men trying to get into her room - her room had been allocated to both her and to her unwanted morning time visitors. Both had been given keys that opened the door - a good job she also used the deadlock bolt and chain.
Breakfast was miserable - tinned fruit salad, bread and pastries that had clearly been baked from the rather poor frozen imitations of the real stuff, a poor selection of sub standard cereals.
An evening drink in the bar was a similar let down - poor wine and a miserable snack menu.
I could not find a single redeeming feature and was so relieved to check out and get away in the morning.
