Rooms are spacious and very comfortable: very good showers; the air conditioning works. Food is excellent. Huge choice at breakfast including exceptional fried eggs, pastries, ham, smoked salmon, cheese, fruit - everything you could possibly want! Lunch even better, with paella, langoustines, delicious beef stew, vast array of salads and fruit, and more. Well-equipped conference rooms are all of good size, and, apart from the inevitable hum of the air conditioning, blessed with decent acoustics. The downstairs areas are very pleasant and all over the hotel is typical 'antique' Spanish furniture such as mirrors and beautiful tables to soften the corporate feel. The management is professional and friendly. The reception staff DO speak English perfectly well. There are only two drawbacks: first, it is a 30-45 minutes bus ride into central Madrid (depending on the time of day, although buses are frequent) and a 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro station (Suanzes); second, you cannot rely on the airport shuttle. When I was leaving on a Sunday the shuttle bus left hourly, which was quite inadequate. Many conference participants waited over an hour on arrival at the airport. Free use of the gym was included along with complimentary password-free wi-fi. This hotel has recently been refurbished (to very good effect), and the downstairs areas are also due for an upgrade soon. Might be worth checking if there is work in progress.
