“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Well presented with a maze of rooms!. The gym is excellent with a good spa (charge). Did not have an evening meal but breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Close to the airport but a long way from the city centre which is a disadvantage if you wish to go there. On one evening we took a taxi which cost around 15 euros one way. The next day we used the metro (about 10 - 15min walk).
Our room was on the 5th floor which only had a skylight window. Looking at the structure of the building this is likely to be the case throughout. I wouldn't choose to stay on this floor for that reason. The room was quite small, clean and clinical looking. Large bathroom, not much power to our shower. Perfectly adequate for a short stay or business trip.

Room Tip: our room was 515. 5th floor does not have proper windows

“Nice hotel, close to the airport; far from the city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

There were several things I like about the hotel and a few I didn't like so much.

So here we go with the things that I liked:
- Free Wi-Fi around the entire hotel including rooms, lobby, restaurant and conference/meeting rooms. There was at least one network with excellent signal although they had different names so you have to change manually
- Food was good, both at breakfast and dinner. There is a "light menu" for dinner with a starter, main course and dessert for €24
- The bed was big and comfortable and sleep was very good
- There was a safe in the room
- As part of the Melia loyalty program I got the newspaper each morning

What i didn't like so much:
- Far from the city center, a taxi was around €16 in each direction and there is only a bus stop nearby which is not very convenient if you would like to visit the city
- No additional traffic lane for the cars trying to stop in front of the hotel leading to a lot of nervous shouts from other drivers whenever someone stopped to leave a guest

Overall a good experience. Till the next one!

“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We have been using this hotel for business trips to Madrid for a number of years and were even there when the volcanic ash cloud closed out most of Europes airspace so we had to extended our usual 2 night stay to a two week one !

Anyway the hotel staff are very accomodating and helpfull. Even during the time when we had our extended stay, they always made sure we comfortable and willing to help where ever they could, running us too and from the airport numerous times each day. The Hotel is well located for the metro into Madrid city center and a short walk from some good shopping and food. The hotel bar and restaurant felt expensive but the service was good. The rooms are large, newly refurbished, clean and very comfortable. Certainly recommend to anyone who wants to be out near the airport but also close to the metro.

“Excellent conference venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Rooms are spacious and very comfortable: very good showers; the air conditioning works. Food is excellent. Huge choice at breakfast including exceptional fried eggs, pastries, ham, smoked salmon, cheese, fruit - everything you could possibly want! Lunch even better, with paella, langoustines, delicious beef stew, vast array of salads and fruit, and more. Well-equipped conference rooms are all of good size, and, apart from the inevitable hum of the air conditioning, blessed with decent acoustics. The downstairs areas are very pleasant and all over the hotel is typical 'antique' Spanish furniture such as mirrors and beautiful tables to soften the corporate feel. The management is professional and friendly. The reception staff DO speak English perfectly well. There are only two drawbacks: first, it is a 30-45 minutes bus ride into central Madrid (depending on the time of day, although buses are frequent) and a 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro station (Suanzes); second, you cannot rely on the airport shuttle. When I was leaving on a Sunday the shuttle bus left hourly, which was quite inadequate. Many conference participants waited over an hour on arrival at the airport. Free use of the gym was included along with complimentary password-free wi-fi. This hotel has recently been refurbished (to very good effect), and the downstairs areas are also due for an upgrade soon. Might be worth checking if there is work in progress.

“Out of town - but a proper fitness centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

I often wish people would comment more on the quality of a gym/fitness centre. I like going to the gym and want to know what a hotel has to offer. This hotel has a fantastic gym. Ignore any previous reviews to the contrary - it's big with every weights/cardio option you could want. The Spa looks good. I didn't use it but looked impressive. Hotel is clean, and the rooms were good/ large and best power shower I've ever used. Nice breakfast. So all very good.......apart from one thing - bad location for centre of Madrid. Metro close and the 146 Bus goes straight into town for only €1!!!! But its still a good 20-25 mins to the centre of Madrid. I was happy with it because of the gym. Great location for the airport if you are flying early next day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking away from Avenida America (noisy and not pretty!)
