The hotel is in a walking distance from the very center of Madrid. And this is pretty much the only nice thing about this place, in need for a renovation.
The experience at this hotel ranges from "maybe-3" to "almost-4" stars depending on what side of the hotel you get assigned to.
If you find a great deal on the internet, then it's likely going to be the shabby side of the hotel: dirty carpets, rundown corridors, sad old rooms overlooking the inner walls of the building, tired furniture, two tiny beds pushed side by side instead of a proper queen size.
Avoid in summer time: the old air conditioning system in the rooms is so noisy (I'm serious, it's unbearable in daylight, but inconceivable at night) that you can't actually use it. And it's not just one room: when you switch it off, you can hear the same noise coming from other rooms as well.
If you plan for a romantic getaway in Madrid, this is probably not where you want to be, unless you make sure you book a super-superior room, or get lucky. According to other reviews that I read, someone did find some nice room in this hotel. Lucky you!
