“I was very impressed with this hotel, great service and acted like a 4/5* hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Lovely big bedrooms, great service on the front desk. Although it's not based in central Madrid it is only a few tube stops from any of the places you want to go, and the hotel is right next to the tube station. It is nice because it is quieter at night time. Breakfast was not great, but you could see that they tried and staff were very helpful in the breakfast room.

“Average but not bad for price and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This hotel is right next to the Chamartin station but the access for cars and taxis is difficult unless you know the location. The views are ugly as well although you can also see the new 4 Madrid skyscapers. If you only need a room and do not want to pay a lot then this is nearly always a good place to stay but there are building works going on now and the breakfast is poor. If you are there is summer they have a nice pool, where you can swim real laps. But as a Tryp hotel it is below average in general.

“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Walk out of the Chamartin metro station following the signs towards Plaza de Castilla, at the end of the parking lot, look right. The hotel is there. However, its proximity to the metro station does not translate into noise. Also, it is less than a 15 minute ride to Sol. We would definitely stay here again if we go to Madrid again. The room was clean and large. The staff was friendly and spoke English. The bathtub was nice and comfy. We were on the 12th floor with a view of the pool. We didn't get to use the pool as it was green and fuzzy (perhaps they stop cleaning it for he winter, but if you're looking forward to swimming, I would check first). We had three twin beds that were larger than normal twins. Two were pushed together. Our in-room safe didn't work. They said they would fix it but we never made arrangements to do so as we weren't staying very long and didn't want to wait around in the room for someone to come. We left with everything we came with!
We paid 102 euro for a Saturday and Sunday night stay. Great deal.

Room Tip: ask for non-smoking on a higher floor.

“Metrotastic”

This hotel is a little outside of town but less than a minute walk from the hotel to the metro station, which takes about 5 -7 minutes ride downtown (and is one of the best metro systems that I have ever been on). The rooms were pretty spacious for Europe and clean and there was a nice buffet breakfast.

There is a huge pool/ sunbathing area and it is nice; although the water is FREEZING (I don't know if this is a Spain thing). Overall, I think it is a great value for the money-- Normally, my husband and I will pay extra money to stay in a downtown area because it is more convenient (this was booked with a package trip) but the metro made it so convenient that I would definitely recommend it.

The only downside that I can think of was that we were hoping for a double bed and ended up with two twins (although they were pushed together so it was pretty much the same) and there was a cigarette burn in the bathroom on the side of the tub. Also, the front desk doesn't speak too much English (but this is everywhere in Spain) and was not a problem for us as they were nice.

Another thing to note is one reason why it worked out so well was because we bought the 3 day Madrid Metro pass at the airport, which we used to get from the airport to the hotel and unlimited trips throughout the 3 days.

“Not too shabby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

This hotel was cool. Stayed here on a Contiki tour for 2 nights. The neighborhood is definitely far from the city center, but very close to the train station. However, the hotel is clean, well-kept, and not budget. I would sacrifice these things for a train ride to the city any day. The breakfast is also very diverse and tasty. It seems relatively modern with a nice theme, inticing pool, and flat screen TV. Shower is large and clean as well. The staff is not very nice and the wi-fi is extremely expensive.

Room Tip: Stay here and enjoy
