“very nice”

Booked through Hotels com. Staff were helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable which was greatly appreciated after a 10 hour flight. Free mini bar in all room (non alcoholic drinks). Hotel room was Modern and very well kept

There was a mix up at breakfast ( I had booked a room with breakfast, yet the 'list' showed I hadn't) which was quickly sorted out to my satisfaction.
The breakfast was very good, All freshly made, Jamon Serano (pata negra), tortilla patata, pure fresh orange juice, cold meats etc etc. The choice, setting and the quality was excellent.

Location is idea for transport links., Atoche Train & Metro (line 1) station is 400m east, (there's also a bus at the train station which takes you direct to the airport for 2Euros) 300m south of the hotel is Palos de la Fontera metro (Line 3) for the theatres on the northern/middle end of Gran via. (Callao metro station).

Opposite entrance to Palos de la Fontera there are some cheap tapas bars serving food from fried Squid (3E) tapas, potato, egg and jamon casserole (6E) to the tortilla patata and burgers, also small supermarket till 2am near by,

I will be booking this hotel when I return to Madrid

“Excellent choice near Atocha station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for a night during a recent trip to Madrid. We picked it because we wanted to catch the airport express bus near Atocha early in the morning and wanted something walkable. The hotel looks a bit dated from the outside, but the room was surprisingly updated and new. Large room, nice bathroom, free wifi in the lobby, good service (they printed out our boarding cards and were helpful with directions and general info). Some noise from other rooms/ outside, but was not intolerable in any way. Overall a good value stay near the station/reina Sofia etc.

“Comfy bed near Atocha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Located about 5 minutes walk from the Atocha metro station, near the Reina Sofia Museum. While not right in the heart of the city, it is pretty central as Madrid is very walkable, and of course you can always hop on the metro at Atocha. Also very convenient if you are arriving or departing by train, as the Atocha Renfe train station is also 5 minute walk away, saving you a cab ride or lugging your stuff on the subway.

Very comfortable bed. Plenty of desk space for my laptop. The room had a small fridge/minibar – which had some water, sodas and juice and was free! Room was clean. Nice, modern bathroom. Staff was friendly and you can leave your bags with the front desk after you check out if needed.

My room rate did not include breakfast.

Internet – in the room – is extra. However, there is free wifi in the lobby.

“OK, but some reservations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

A simple map on the hotel's web page would make getting here much easier. It's very simple once you figure it out.

The bed was very comfortable, linens clean, but the room is dated and lots of scrapes on the wall indicate that the room hasn't been painted in a few years. Noise is a problem here ... the hotel is in a U shape, so 4 doors are within feet of one another. If you like a place where you can hear slamming doors this is it.

Wi-fi in the room is too expensive. Also no in-room coffee boiler or refrigerator.

On balance this is an OK place to stay near the railway station, but I don't think it's a good overall value and definitely not what I expect from a Marriott-related hotel.

Room Tip: Try for a room on either end of the floor.

Thank you for your comments; we would have liked to know your opinion during your stay at our hotel, in order for us to solve them. The hotel has been totally reformed in 2010; we don’t understand the flaws that you specify. We don’t have any room painted; all our rooms are decorated with paper. All the rooms are equipped with free minibar. The distribution of the hotel is the same as any European hotel. We don’t understand what you want to say with the distance between the doors and the noise. Internet is free in the restaurant, the bar, the breakfast room and the TV and press room; and in the rooms the price is reasonable. We find we have a good quality-price ratio. We encourage you to see prices in other hotels in the city centre of Madrid.

“perfect for visiting downtown madrid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The hotel is perfectly situated for a trip to Madrid. It is no more than 5 minutes by foot to visit the "Reina Sofia" and no more than 20 minutes by foot or approx. 5 min by subway from "Puerta del Sol" and "Gran Via".
Coming in from the Barajas airport, the hotel is situated in direct neighborhood of the Ceranias Renfe station of "Delicias" as well as the metro station of "Palos de la Frontera" (not sure if i remember the name 100% right). If your flying Iberia you will most probably land in Terminal T4 of Barajas, which has a station of Cercanias Renfe. There is a direct train, which takes about 30 minutes.
We had a standard double room, which was clean and reasonably big. The furniture looks rather new and stylish. Very surprisingly the minibar was included in the fare (although there's no alcoholic stuff). The clerks we were talking to have all been very nice and helpful.
