The room was very warm. We couldn't bring the temperature down, whatever we tried.
Airco did not work according to us, although the hotel claimed differently. These worked according to the hotel from 5.00 pm till 01.00 am, This was a joke because the staff eliminated all the electricity in te chamber by pushing 1 central button. When we entered our room past 10 pm the airco absolute didn't work any more. The third explanation that we got: according to the Executive Board the airco wasn't turned on before May 15th.
Observations about the airco were answered in an impolite manner.
Between the bed and the wall scarcely 30 cm were so that one person had trouble to get in bed.
Fresh spirits can be obtained on 3 different floors. You can throw pennies in the apparatuses but you don't get spirits, nor your money back.

I sincerly want to complain about this hotel.
We never stayed at a worse hotel.

The problem solving solutions from the reception are below any standard. As long as there are no problems the people of the reception are friendly. But when you adress a problem you get a very arrogant tone.

We experienced following problems:

We weren't allowed to leave are suitcases down bellow , after a lot of discussion we were finnaly allowed to leave them on the first floor. What ment that we had to carry our luggages 15 steps up en down. Not very suitable for some elderly people out of the group.

Madrid is a very hot city and aldo the hotel has aircondition.they refuse to put it on before 15 may.

The hotel only has one coffee machine for 70 people. Imagine the people cueing up in the morning.

My wife is lovely but not really a gymnastic. With a free standing space of only 30 cm from the wall to get in your bed, we had a slight problem.

The breakfast was bellow standard

conclusion: not really the place we want to go to again.

Cheap and cheerful basic hotel. Good size room, good size comfortable double bed, good sound-proofing (from the 12th floor), very good black out curtains and roller blinds, nice little balcony. Decor very dated, no minibar. Cleaning service very good - waited until we went out even when that was well after lunch. Bathroom had a bad smell of drains, which disappeared for one afternoon but returned the next day. There is no way the cleaner did not smell that. The trouser press did not work and clearly had not for a very long time, but when we asked for an iron and ironing board we were told the hotel did not have any of these items. They wasted our time by sending an elderly electrician to our room (after a few hours of waiting) who confirmed that the trouser press didn't work. And that was that. Pretty disappointing as we now could not iron a shirt for dinner - imagine if you'd been on a business trip. The attitude at reception was total disinterest and I very much doubt if that trouser press will ever be fixed. However, we paid peanuts so we didn't mind. Location - we are fairly quick walkers and it took an hour to walk to Plaza Mayor. The metro is just across the road, though, and it takes about 15 or 20 mins to get you to Plaza Mayor or Sol with one change. Madrid itself was lovely, though pricey.
