“Super choice for Madrid!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I definitely recommend this hotel! The location is superb, very close to many attractions (including Prado and Royal Palace), metro, and also bars, cafes, restaurants, shops. Pleasant and very helpful staff, both at the reception and in the breakfast room. We had a quiet premium room with a balcony located on the 6th floor. It was quite spacious, very clean, tidy and nicely decorated. There was tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was good and adequate. Definitely, a super choice for Madrid.

Excellent location on Grand Via. Within walking distance of most sites. Very clean room, good shower and towels. Family room for four adults was great value. Staff polite and helpful. Would recommend.

“Located in the middle of everything”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Stayed here 4 nights December 19 to 23rd 2011, myself and 3 teenagers.

Location - Right in the heart of the city along the Gran Via. Entrance to hotel is along a sidestreet to the Gran Via. Actually preferred this rather than along the main blvd. Note that the street outside was busy 20 hours of the day/night during the holiday season. This was certainlyh expected along this main street. Expect typical noise from a busy central city street including ambulances, police, trash trucks, shoppers and people partying in the City. We didn't care but it might bother those light sleepers. I preferred being able to look out and enjoyed the street scenes. Ideal for nearby shopping, restaurants, bus stop and metro stations. Metro stations for 4 different lines within 2 minute walk from hotel. ATM located one minute from hotel along Gran Via. Several tapas bars within 500 yards of hotel. City Tour bus stop 1 minute away. No real need for taxis while staying at this hotel. We never felt unsafe although the evenings brought out some very interesting characters north of the hotel along the sidestreet.

Rooms - Well maintained, comfortable size by European standards. Appears to have been improved with relatively recent modernization of bathroom and sleeping area. Bathroom fixtures and shower/tub were more than functional. Twin beds were comfortable. Didn't use the TV much. Wifi was 8 euro for 24 hours, a tad pricey and the range was very limited near the window. Housekeeping was very efficient and kept the room tidy. The room was warmed (almost too much)by the sun radiating into the enclosed balcony. Opening the window was the fast and easy solution.

Amenities - Breakfast was very nice with a pot of hot spanish coffee (!) or tea upon seating, nice buffet of coldcuts, cheeses, fresh fruits, juices, churros (spanish version) croissants and breads. Service was fast and generally excellent. Staff was polite, friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out. No complaints. They have a person (guard?) stationed on street level loosely monitoring the people entering the hotel and going up the elevators. They were helpful directing us with maps and the locations of museums, etc.

I would gladly stay at this hotel again and I believe it was a good bargain.

Room Tip: Don't choose a street facing room if you're a light sleeper

“Nice hotel in great location”

Stayed for a few nights at this hotel and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is perfect, right on the main shopping street in Madrid and between two subway stops. My room was large and modern, and the Gran Via view was nice. My room had a mini balcony which was enclosed by a glass door. Large TV, but only local channels. Very nice bathroom--again, large and spotless.

The hotel is also within easy walking distance (10 minutes or so) to the closest drop-off point for the very cheap and convenient airport bus. (2 Euros per trip)

In addition to the many positives, there were a few negatives as well:

Expensive and very slow WiFi (I ended up asking for a refund because it was virtually useless). There it a coffee shop called Coffee y Tea (or something like that) a few steps from the hotel when you turn left onto Gran Via. Very good free WiFi, even if you just stand outside. Quite a few people were doing just that.

No air conditioning (maybe it was turned off because it was November), but the room was rather warm at times.

Beds were not particularly comfortable

All in all, though, a nice place to stay, especially considering the low price. Not the ideal business hotel, however.

Room Tip: Gan Via rooms have good view and are still very quiet, but apparently all double beds are actually t...

Just got back from Spain a week ago. I choosen this hotel from read from this site. My rating are following... Perfect location for in the center of the city. For shopping, restaurants. Our flight arrived city in the early morning, about 7:30am local time in the morning. Went to the hotel checked in early had no problem. Spent $16 Euro per night got upgrade room top of the floor, with main street city view. Because the hotel and room on the main street. At night you will hear trash truck up and down the street. Windows are functionble. We were able to opened it up to get ride off smoking smell. Hotel has no bellboy services. Checking on the second floor. I booked with breakfas everyday. The breakfast does offer hot meal also. Has many choices. Very adequate to U.S 3 starts to 3 1/2 rate. Room and bathroom are cleaning. If I will go to Madrid again. I will choice of this hotel again, personally.
