“Good value for money and amazing location. Very clean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Only booked a few weeks before the trip, unbelievably good value for money. I was there in late spring so summer prices had not kicked in yet.

4th floor twin room was huge, ammenities were fine, good hanging space, A/C, bathroom was more luxurious than I would have expected for the price. Hotel in general was clean and quiet at night although early mornings were noisy early due to the asian market at the back of the hotel unloading trucks, this was fine for me but is not ideal for families with babies. Staff were very helpful. No tv channels in English. Vending machines operated on a token system which was annoying.
I would definitely use this hotel when in Madrid next time, Straight onto Gran Via, right next to Plaza de Espana and the metro station, there is even a Starbucks across the road and numerous 24 hour newsagents selling the essentials. Unbeatable for this price!
Madrid is a great city and Gran Via is very safe to walk at night making the location perfect.

The only complaint I would have about the room is that we had the first room off the stairwell on the 4th floor, there was some noise from passing guests but was not a huge problem however we had a suspicious amount of people banging on our door at all times of day, some in the early hours of the morning. We initially suspected that people were coming home after drinking and going to the first room from the stairs on the incorrect floor, however this persisted for the whole week. Sometimes they would knock and sometimes they would persistently jig the handle or try a entry card in the slot. Whenever we would open the door they would mutter in spanish (usually women) that they had the wrong room. This happened once or twice a night for 7 nights. Slightly suspicous and annoying although in all other respects the hotel seemed completely safe. Would be interested to know if anybody else had the same problem. I do not mention this to deter anyone from the hotel, I will stay here again myself in the near future.

“Noisey 11th Floor Room, but clean and good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

Room was not big, neither was the bed, the bathroom and tv were big thou ! We had a noisey room on the 11th floor, I think the noise came from the a/c on the roof, vibrating onto ceiling and onto the headboard, sleeping was hard ! The room and hotel were clean. The location was good. The staff were only interested in booking you in and did not offer any advice on the surrounding areas.

“No double beds”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Books 3 months before arriving specifically stating I wanted a double bed. Arrived to see 2 single beds, went down stairs to get a room with a double bed , the 2 ppl at the desk said there isn't any and they are all booked out. They said I should of booked earlier and said I didn't book it 3 months ago. I asked for some double bed sheets to make the singles join together. They refused! I asked them how many rooms they had with dbl beds, they said only 1 on each floor! A hotel that has only 1 double bed on each floor?! And NO dbl bed sheets. There were no chairs to sit on wither, just a small round table. Which is useless if you don't have any chairs to sit on. Had to sit on the bed all the time. There was no gym as advertised. No coffee or tea facilities. NO internet or computer. (it was broken) Don't give these rude ppl your business, stay somewhere else, and don't book more than one night anywhere just in case you want to leave. We were stuck there for 5 days! Hated it. Hated the attitude of the staff.

“Perfect location, great value”

Stayed here for three nights on a break with my boyfriend....got a good rate on lastminute.com, which sold the hotel as one of their 'secret hotel' deals where you don't find out the name until after you've booked and paid. We were very pleasantly surprised! Hotel in perfect location, from where you can walk everywhere in the city centre (we only took the metro twice- to go to the Bernabeu stadium, and to/from the airport). The room was very clean, bathroom was nice, lovely Bang & Olufsen tv in room and even though we were at the front of the hotel, there was very little noise from the street. We didn't have the breakfast as lots of other little cafes you can go to (especially the Museo del Jamon next door which we loved for serrano ham baguettes and coffees at €1 each) but based on my experience I'd definitely stay at the hotel again!

Only downside= we got a twin, not a double bed, although if we had asked after checking in they may have changed the room for us, so our fault, not theirs!

“Centrally located hotel in Madrid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

The hotel is in a great location, 2 minutes walk from the metro station, and 10 minutes in the other direction from the shopping/eating centre of the city. The reception staff were always helpful and polite. The rooms are clean and the ones at the front and the back of the building are a decent size. Make sure you are not given a smaller room which opens onto the internal "courtyard" ( this is more of an open air chimney) and if you get one of those and have the unfortune to be on one of the lower floors, it is like sleeping in a cave! Even in the day you need the light on to see where you are going in the room. I got one of those, and after the first night, asked if I could change; which was not a problem. Breakfast was timely and plenty of choice. Ask the reception if there are holiday/festival days during the week so you don't get caught out as breakfast starts later on those days as with Sundays. If you are going close to the summer months and it is still hot (in comparison to British climate) a hotel with a pool may be advisable though.... the outdoor ones in Madrid only open during the summer holidays!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel and on the higher floor 8-9; the views are great and a good s...
