“excellent localization !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Hotel has just one problem...It´s a little bit noise, you could easily hear the conversation of your neighbours and not just conversation. But the localization is just perfect - I was in Madrid 3 days and I just catch subway from and to airport - the rest I was just walking - 8-10h per day and even in the night you dont need to catch taxi from latina or puerta do sol - since you can walk 20-30min to the hotel.

“Jewel in an otherwise complete disaster.”

Stayed in January, folllowing other hotels in Spain the rates were less than half of what they would be in the summer. after being abandoned in Alicante by ryanair and geting a 400euro taxi through a blizzard to try and make it to a concert which a friend was playing in Cason del Tormes were our shining light. the staff were sympathetic, helpful and understanding, possibly as it wasn't very busy but still, they were. Made and excellent base for the rest of our stay, central loaction, breakfast was fantastic and as i spent alot of time in the bar trying to finish uni work the bar man sympathised with lots of hot chocolate!

Room Tip: down a back street so no special views, rooms are beautiful so doesn't matter!

“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Casón del Tormes Hotel is 3 min walk from to Plaza de Espana, but in quiet side road. Metro station 3 min walk as well.Airport (get the free map from Airport tourism office, it is better than the map in the hotels to hotel, by tube, you need to change only once and really practical and easy to use tube system!Nice restaurants and shopping near by

Reception clean, receptionist friendly and helpful.
One lift and worked well. Room 311 on 3rd floor (Twnb).Requested double, but not available
Bathroom was clean, hand shower in bath (two small bottles of Shampoo, and two very small soaps, package of tissue , shoe cleaner).Hot water was warm, but not hot!
Small flat screen TV (15 inch, several local stations and BBC world).Booked Wifi (5 Euro /24 hours usage) and it was reasonable fast.Aircom available, heating through radiator.Room was warm.Bed comfortable (even I don't like SGL beds). Only disadvantage was soundproof. You can hear next door people very well, and upstairs noises. Everybody (this time) seem to go to bed 11 pm and wake up about 7 pm.You could also hear corridor noises.Brfst Eur 9.50.Ok, very basic continental.Bread and pastry selection ok, other stuff was very limited. Would I stay again? If sound proof was better in the room (hopefully they will give different room next time), yes.Location is excellent, and room/Htl is clean! No street noise!By the way, my room was straight opposite of residential accommodations, so remember to keep your net curtains closed. This did not bother me as I was in the room in the eve/night and in the morning left to conference. So over all, if you do not mind external noise, and you want clean, basic 3 star hotel in the heart of Madrid, this is great hotel!Rate wise reasonable.Booked it through booking.com

Room Tip: Try to get the rooms from top floor, at least you cannot hear the noise from above. Also try to get...

“Excellent hotel in Madrid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Cason in November! It was my first time in Spain, and this hotel was offered through a package with EuropeanDestinations. The staff at the hotel was the best! They spoke excellent English, helped us with every question we had and had great recommendations for Dinner and a Flamenco show. They even set us up with reservations at both locations where we treated like special guests for the evening! The hotel is located just a bit off the main road, but the area is very safe, a quick walk to the metro, Plaza Espana, bars and restaruants and the palace. We had no problems at all using the metro to get around the city, we absolutely loved every minute in Madrid! I thank everyone at the Cason for their help, we really had the best time!
