The hotel is just across the street (well, it is a big street!) from Atocha railway station (and airport bus). The breakfast is excellent with fresh and dried fruit, a bowl of natural youghurt, selection of loose leaf teas etc etc. Our room was small and hadn't much of a view (to say the least) but was dead quiet and well equipped. The air conditon worked and was not noisy. My only real critique is that the bed were a bit too soft. Staff spoke English.

This is NOT a four star hotel as they advertise ........ it's no better than a Holiday Inn or a Comfort Inn! While the lobby may look great, the room we had was pretty average except that the air conditioning did not function and the temperature got up to 27C at one point. They also do not offer free internet in your room so you have to hike down to the lobby & ask for a p=user name & password if you want to check emails. We ate in the restaurant and it was also very average ...... I expected a bit more after paying 163 euros per night for a room!

The hotel is across the street from Atocha station, so a good base for exploring Madrid and catching trains to other cities...The rooms are very small - with a double bed (I'm using the American version of a double here - so smaller than a queen, but larger than a twin. The problem was no air conditioning. It was very hot in the rooms, and the AC was broken and/or not cut on yet, which apparently is common in European countries. The only way I could sleep was to sleep naked with a wet towel on top of me. I wouldn't recommend staying here in warm weather.

My wife and I were on our way from a week in Sevilla to our flights from Barajas and decided to spend a day and night in Madrid to break the trip. We arrived on the AVE from Sevilla at the Atocha station, took the escalator to the upper level, and the elevator to the street and were about 50 feet from the hotel entrance. We dropped our bags at the hotel and had the day for touring rather than schlepping luggage. Since the hotel is minutes from the Prado, Royal Botanical Garden, and Retiro Park, there is plenty to do nearby. The next morning the same elevator took us to Atocha station where we caught the Cercania then the Metro to Barajas. Couldn't have been easier. For an extended stay in Madrid, I would make a different choice, but if you want access to Atocha there is no better option.
