“Convenient Basic Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I stayed here as part of a group tour. I had a single room, which as far as European hotel goes was a normal size. I only slept and showered here so didn't need much room. If you were going to do business, it might be a tight squeeze. Also, request a room away from the elevators...they are very loud. Overall the hotel was perfect for our purposes. Easy access to the Metro and airport. The continental breakfast was included in our room price and I thought it was a good spread, better than what you'd find at most American hotels. I thought the rooms were a bit "used", the hotel could use a maintenance overhaul. If the price was right, I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from the elevator or stairs.

“Convenient to Airport, Center, and Suburbs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

I chose to stay at this hotel because I needed to access the suburb trains (Cercanias), but also wanted to be able to get to the airport and to the center conveniently. It's a short 10 minute walk from Nuevos Ministerios metro (where I caught the airport and suburb lines), and a 5 minute walk to the metro line that took me right to Chueca/the center.

The single room was relatively small, but not too bad. The hotel area is quiet, but only a few blocks away from a nice row of restaurants and tapas bars. There's some mini grocery stores around the corner, for those extra staples. And the minibar was at least reasonable for minibar prices -- a water was 2.50 (euro).

I had paid the extra 10 euros for the early checkin at 8, and unfortunately the hotel was booked, so I wasn't able to get into the room until about 10 -- but they were very apologetic and friendly.

“No, no, no”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

I'm tired of business hotels like this one... Small room, worn bathroom with mould in the shower and hair (not mine!) on the floor and in the sink, 2 tiny single beds pushed together with horribly old and scratchy woolen blankets, armchairs you dont want to sit in for fear you'll catch something. Ok, so I'm probably making it sound worse than it was but how difficult can it be?!? I will definitely not come back or recommend this to anyone else.

“Unacceptable internet pricing and procedures”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

I ended up in this hotel as a result of blind bidding on Priceline. I paid $68 per night, taxes included, for a double.
The hotel is about 150 yards from the Gregorio Maranon metro station. That metro station is 5 stops from Sol, with one transfer. The hotel is also about 400 yards from the outstanding Sorolla museum.
I was originally placed in a single room that was microscopic in size. When I advised the desk clerk that I had booked a double through Priceline, he apologized and said “he did not know the rooms in the hotel that well.” The double I was placed in was of adequate size and modernity.
This hotel is one of dwindling number that believes that it can get away with charging for internet service. It charges a whopping 10.6 Euros per day for wifi service in the room. It offers free wifi service in the lobby for a miserly 30 minutes per day.
The hotel offers an expensive breakfast buffet for 14 Euros.

“standard 3 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

I stayed twice during November, >Room just ok but make sure thta you reserve a double room for single use rather than a single one because this last one really small. Good restaurant choice around the hotel. Staff professional but not really friendly. I would choose NH Abascal or NH Prisma which are in the same area but with better installations.
