“Business hotel in central Madrid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

The business hotel is reasonably well located for a visit to central Madrid but is probably best avoided if you want a quiet night's sleep. If I opened the window, I was kept awake by the traffic, which is almost 24x7. Even if I closed it, which I dislike to even with air conditioning, the traffic was very audible. There are quieter rooms away from the front, but the hotel was full so I could not be moved. If your place of work is away from the centre, you would do better to stay nearby. The building itself is rather pokey. The breakfasts were good, but this is not a cheap hotel and expensive for what you get. The reception service was attentive, polite and caring - they even offered to chase up a taxi driver if you think you have been overcharged!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the main road if you want a good night's sleep.

“An all round good hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights in June. My best advise is if coming from the Airport do not use the directions given to you on their website. Yo have to change lines twice and with baggage it isn't easy as the lifts are in short supply... If any! Instead take Line 8 (it costs €2 each) and change at Mar De Cristal onto Line 4 towards Arguelles. Get a seat as it's a slightly longer ride but MUCH easier! Get off at San Beranrdo and it's a 3 minute walk.

The staff here were pleasant and helpful, the room spotlessly cleaned everyday. Great toiletries as usual with NH Hotels. A hairdryer was appreciated too! But... No iron and yes if you have the double balcony doors open (Juliet style) then it's a little noisy as it's on a main road. But what do you expect in a city centre?

“Small, simple, but efficient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2011

I've stayed in NH hotels quite a lot in Spain, this one was very typical of the chain. Comfortable, modern and clean, if a bit basic.

On the upside:
Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable.
Bathrooms are well equipped and modern.
Complimentary NH bathroom supplies (shower gel etc) are delightful.
Good room service (pizza and pasta).
Pretty good location, if slightly busy / noisy, but it's a city centre after all.

On the downside:
Rooms are a bit small, but they're fine enough for short stays.
The reception staff I dealt with were abrupt and cold... but no big deal.
No bar. Expected I suppose, in a 3 star.
No gym or pool. Ditto.
No ironing facilities. Note to hotel owners: An ironing board is a must on longer business trips!

Overall, a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Bring an iron.

“rooms like closets, small ones”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

This place is not worth the money. I am pretty sure the room that I booked was an elevator shaft at one time. It was barely bigger than the small, low, uncomfortable double bed that was in it. Air conditioning didn't have temperature control. I got yelled at when I took a piece of bread from their breakfast buffet. Service is rude. The only good thing is it's location, which is excellent, but I would stay at the Tripol down the street or the AC Recoletos, both of which have much nicer rooms and better service.

“Clean and comfortable. Near San Bernardo metro. Nothing to rave about.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2009

This hotel is OK. It's close to San Bernardo metro stop so it's easy to get around. The reception staff were friendly and the rooms clean and tidy but I've stayed in better 3 star hotels. It just doesn't wow you. It's very plain and simple. I would suggest it's on the lower end of the scale for a 3 star rated hotel. However, if you're looking for a functional hotel, not too far from the main attractions of the city, it may fit the bill.
