“Hotel did the job”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

Had annual lads (we are all over 50) tour and chose Madrid this time. Booked into NH Prisma - just used it as some place to sleep - and have some breakfast - nothing else. It is a businessman's hotel - I had a bedroom, large separate lounge, bathroom - all fine - no frills but no complaints. About 15 mins into the centre of Madrid via the excellent and cheap underground system - however if I go to Madrid again I will staying at a hotel in the centre. NHS Prisma is not suitable or designed for kids.

Flew in from Edinburgh with Easyjet - excellent flight - no delays, arrived early. I have had several flights with Easyjet now and was apprehensive about using them at first. I have never had a problem with them. Landed at Madrid later than the other blokes I was with who were flying from London - got my way from the airport to the hotel by Tube - pretty easy. I think it only cost E2 which is amazing value.

The weather was a bit cold and wet but we found plenty to do - walking round the town, having a look at an art gallery, watching sport in the various and numerous pubs we visited. Ate the lovely ham till it was coming out of my ears - lots of restaurants to choose from.

Had an interesting "lunch" on the Saturday when we wandered into the old town and found an old sherry bar. It was a beautifully run down place - decor about 40 years out of date - bar tab written in chalk on the counter - bottles of sherry filled directly from barrels. Wonderfully surly barman - wouldn't let us take pictures of his bar. A peculiar lunch but a great experience.

As seems to be the norm, one of our party was pick-pocketed on a late night wander round town. No violence just 3 guys "offering advice" on which club to go to - a pat on the back here, a tap on the shoulder there. In an instant he lost a phone, money and a credit card and didn't sense a thing - just be aware that there are opportunists out there just like any other big city.

I liked Madrid and will go again but I will stay somewhere closer to the centre next time.

“Excellent base for exploring the city as a tourist”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2010

We spent a long weekend in Madrid and used the hotel as an excellent base for exploring the city. All the rooms are suites: spacious, clean , and quiet. The buffet-type breakfast offers a wide choice of food and excellent coffee (expresso machine).
All in all we consider this hotel a convenient address for visiting Madrid at a good price/performace ratio. The metro brings you in about 10 minutes to mid -downtown (Plaza Mayor or Sol)

“clean & spacious, but not very charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

We stayed in this hotel in Sept 2010. This hotel was part of our guided tour.

The rooms in this hotel are suites - separate living room with sleeper sofa/upholstered chair & desk. There's 2 small hallways that connect the 3 rooms (livingroom, bedroom, bathroom)- wasted space in my opinion.

The furniture is Ikea level stuff . Blond wood paneling & furniture makes it seem like a dorm room. There are 2 small flat-screen TVs - one in living room & 1 in bedroom. Small stereo system in living room as well. The bathroom is done in white carrera marble - a little stark & old-fashioned looking. There's a safe in the bedroom but the closet is pretty small with few hangers. The beds are OK - just blankets no comforters. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom but we asked multiple times for an iron and never got one - booh!

I read some other reviews of this hotel complaining its a long walk to the Metro. They must have gotten lost as the Metro station is 4 minutes away at the corner of Santa Engracia and Rios Rosas. It's a quick 7 minute subway ride to Puerta del Sol. Only costs 1 Euro!!

Clean and efficient, not charming unless you think a dorm room is charming. It's inexpensive though - on the hotel's website, a room is only 85 Euros.

“Lovely rooms, Good services and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

We stayed in the NH Prisma for 4 nights in August and must say we thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms were very large consisting of a separate living room and bedroom which were very clean. Only a couple minor complaint was that one for some part of the stay we think they turned off the hot water however when we complained it mysteriously came back on! and two Could have done with an extra pillow on the bed!

The Hotel itself was very Conveniently located, right across from the Rios Rosas metro station which is only a few stops from central Madrid. We used it everyday to get everywhere. The outside of the hotel made a nice presentation, with the beautiful flowers and a fountain which was all very clean. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you don't fancy eating in the Hotel or you can get the metro in central Madrid which is what we did a couple of times.

The breakfast buffet offered a wide choice of breads, juices, meats, cheeses, fruit and even chocolate doughnuts! There was plenty of choice and the stock levels were always kept up so no problems there. The breakfast staff were friendly and didn't seem to rush you.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is staying in Madrid and if we ever to came back to Madrid, would consider staying here again.
