“Not a 4+ Star Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

In all honesty the hotel deserves a rating of "good" especially because of its location: just two blocks from main metro station; in a lovely and elegant area of town with all the designer boutiques; and ideal to reach any part of the city within 4-5 metro stops. The hotel, however, did not provide for a bar and the room was pretty ordinary. The bathroom, whilst fairly sizeable, was very strangely boxed off by glass "see through" walls thus allowing very little privacy. The discounted price of Euros 93 we paid was worth it and I would so recommend it.

“Brilliant Location, funky, clean and lovely staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We had a two night girlie weekend, brilliant value for a triple room 40 euro each a night, In a lovely quiet district, so great to stay there but to go out and get into the thick of it , 5mins walk to metro then 3 stops to centre and about 6 euros back in taxi, It is basic and no bar etc but if you want lots of amenties put your hand in your pocket and go 5*! The staff were just lovely really friendly and professional, We are already planning next years return trip! (and as for Madrid so lively, the people have such a zest for life and are such fun, my advice mainline coffee and keep up, as the nightlife is Fabulous!

“Spartan, but great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This hotel was in a great location, the Salamanca district of Madrid, which is full of very high quality restaurants and shops. It is close to the metro and a 5 minute walk from Retiro Park which is a wonderful park with a lake and very pleasant to walk around. The central tourist area of Madrid, Sol, Plaza Major etc. is about a 20 minute walk away, or alternatively a few minutes on the metro. I thought I'd start with the positive! The negative aspects are that we were not greeted upon arrival in a friendly and welcoming manner. The hotel was on a much smaller scale than I had anticipated and did not have a hotel bar. When we asked for drinks one evening to have in the lobby or in our room, we were told the bar was shut. This was about midnight, not late for Spain and especially not what one would expect in the capital. I, personally, love a hotel with a hotel bar to have a nightcap so this was very disappointing, but I admit could be personal preference. The rooms were fairly spartan, not rooms to which you could go back and relax and chill out in after a hard days shopping! If you just want a hotel as a basic crash pad then this could be the one for you, if you like a little bit more pampering and luxury, then avoid.

“Very unique style nice location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

The hotel is located not far from several subway stations, which makes it easy accessible from the airport (approx. 30 mins) and huge shopping street is also only around the corner.
The hotel itslef is great! Nice architecture - design meets age - and it has very clean rooms. Even though I was given a smokers room, there was no smell at all in the room. In addition to the computer in the lobby, each room also has its own laptop and WIFI.
Rooms to the streetside are still quite as street is not very busy.
Breakfast offers different styles, from spanish breakfast to cornflakes and fresh fruits.

“Bad, bad bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Room wasn't as booked. So we were moved...just about and begrudgingly by the rude staff. That room was right by the lifts so noisy. The jacuzzi didn't work, nor did the TV or the iPod/Radio in the room. Not very high tech. If we'd paid 50 Euros a night this would have been fine but not for 100 Euros. Would not recommend.

Room Tip: Don't book a room by the lifts and try to get one on the front - the ones on the back look out o...
