I stayed in this hotel for two nights on a business trip. My hosts chose this hotel and paid for the room, otherwise I definitely would not have stayed. The location is decent, putting you near some nice sights.

However, the rooms are absolutely terrible. The walls are so thin that you can genuinely hear every single noise occurring in the room next to you. Any time the person in the room next to me received a text message I would glance at my phone as the sound passed through the walls so clearly. When anyone on the same floor flushes their toilet you can hear the water slushing through the pipes in your room. I'm a deep sleeper and this was able to wake me up. The room was extremely dirty, the decor was dated. I'm very relieved I only had to stay for 2 nights, as I couldn't have lasted any longer. I'm very happy I wasn't with my girlfriend as I'm sure she would have been absolutely miserable there. Every member of staff I encountered was extremely rude and any assistance was extremely reluctantly fulfilled.

Thankfully I wasn't paying for my stay, so I am not sure how cheap/expensive it is to stay. Unless you're on an extremely tight business budget and this is the cheapest hotel available then I seriously recommend you avoid the place. If you're going away on a family or couples vacation then do not even consider this place. If you do find yourself staying here, my one piece of advice would be to avoid the restaurant. It is extremely over priced, the staff are extremely rude, and far nicer and cheaper food can be found right outside the hotel.

My husband & I were part of a tour group and stayed 4 nights in this hotel. This hotel caters mostly to tour groups and has no interest in serving the individual customer. The walls of our room were paper thin and we could hear all the comings and goings in the hallway as well as the happenings in our neighbor's bathroom. I was afraid to put my bare feet on the carpeting - it was stained and does not appear to have ever been cleaned. The front desk staff were aloof and uppity and pretended not to see you. The continental breakfast was pathetic - canned fruit cocktail, hard-boiled eggs, and toast - those were some of the edible items. Yes this hotel is close to the Metro station, but do yourself a favor - walk a couple blocks and stay somewhere else.

Suggest you check the review complaints as far back as 2004 nothing has changed obvious “Management” don’t care ! All 80 people from our tour group (average age 50 years? ) were most dissatisfied with this poor excuse for a 4 star hotel. It is only suitable for YOUNG BACKPACKERS looking for basic food & accommodation.
Appalling Negatives:
400+ Rooms 1970 decor, old and tired, many complaints from our group, some smelt so bad (dry pipes) people had to change rooms. No fridge, Air/Con ineffective, no tea facilities. Bathroom inadequate, damaged tiles, water pressure varied, plastic curtain over bath. Breakfast and Dinner was the worse we had experienced during our 5 week European tour, so bad most people refused to eat it. Apparently the Restaurant and Cafeteria are contracted by the hotel. Meat tough, poor quality, limited vegetables, watery scrambled eggs and dessert, only canned fruit, terrible coffee, processed meat & cheese. Some food obviously recycled. Staff unfriendly, unhelpful unless you are Spanish, except for receptionist Gilabert ( must have read his bad reviews and improved). Old TV, poor reception no English channels. Sirens & traffic noise from busy railway station.
Positives:
Noisy but central location close to train. Free wireless. Clean rooms although inadequate unless your young and don‘t care, just want a cheap bed & terrible food.
Summary: Terrible. All 80 people can’t be wrong. This is not a 4 star hotel lucky to be a 2 star. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED

Don't be fooled by the glitzy foyer, for when you reach your room, you will be greeted by a place straight out of the 70s. The bathroom was totally antequated and produced odors which prermeated the bedroom. The TV, advertising 12 channels, could only produce 8, maybe because it was of the same vintage as the bathroom. The most disappointing aspect was the total disrespect of the staff, particularly in the restaurant, for clientel. The food was terrible and it was observed that the same rubbish was served to new arrivals a day later. How this hotel was ranked as 4 star remains a mystery. If you plan to visit Madrid steer clear of this hotel.
