A nice hotel close by the centre of town with easy access to shops and restaurants.
My Satnav told me that I had reached my destination, but I was unable to find the hotel. So I drove thro the one-way system again and again and again. Nowhere to park. Eventually got a parking space and asked several passers-by, and at last found one who knew the hotel was up a one-way pedestrian precinct and I was at the wrong end of it. Walked to the hotel but reception unhelpful as English was poor. So round the one-way system a few more times. I had booked a place in the hotel garage (underground). I was horrified by the tightness of parking and woke up sweating several times in the night . wondering how was I going to get my Passat estate with bikes on the back out of that garage. Took me a long time. doing several 20 point turns and eventually got out thro a passage with about 6 inches of clearanc e either side. My wife congratulated me on overcoming the impossible. - but never again.
AGood place to eat - Spanish food (first course potatoes with chorizo sausages) second course , with pudding, bread, water, and wine all for 10 Euros, is to be found not far away in the Traversia de San Jan called Cafe Bar La Campana. It was popular with the Camino pilgrims and we had a fine chat with some of them - from every nation
Breakfast we thought expensive for what you got. And parking was 17 Euros
