Every room is a smoking room. Make that: chain-smoking room. If you are a non-smoker you probably will not enjoy the smell of stale tobacco smoke that had permeated everything including supposedly clean bedsheets. Revolting.

The Bristol hotel is a fantastic looking building that it's fair to say has seen better days.
The interior is old and in need of a few million pounds being spent on it to revive an historic building back to it's full glory.the rooms are very basic and befit their 2star rating, the pool is usable and provides welcome escape form the summer heat but like the bar no glamour.
You get what you pay for and this is true with the Bristol.
So would I stay here again ,YES! I book a city break to see the city , not the hotel. The Bristol has a fantastic location right off main street in the heart of Gibraltar,the rooms are clean and a good size ,the bar basic as it is has the cheapest prices great for a pre dinner drink and the staff are really friendly. If this hotel was modonised it would be at least double the price so enjoy a bargain while you can.

It is right in the middle of town, walking distance from loads of bars etc. Traffic noise in the hotel prevents one from opening the windows. Good size room, great value.

My wife and I, mid-sixties, spent an agreeable four nights here as part of a short Gibraltar package. A hotel of two-star quality, quaintly "antique" in character with its dark labyrinth of wooden-panelled corridors. Staff most obliging. Our room - an outside twin - OK. Clean with all the basics though somewhat jaded. Breakfast was a self-service cold buffet, more than adequate, served just across the road in the breakfast/bar area which served toasted sandwiches & snacks at lunchtime and evenings (hotel itself does not do meals). Well situated for buses and with immediate access the the famous Main Stree central shopping area. All-in-all good clean value if you are not wanting to be pampered!
