I really recomend it for a weekend getaway. La bufadora was astonishing. The food was great, there is a large variety of restaurants downtown. Visiting the wine country was relaxing and they have an annual wine fair/ contest along with a "paella" contest. Anyone can enter their paella recipe to the contest as long as you make enough paella for the judges and the guests. There are also a lot camping grounds although some can only be reached by dirt roads. Once you get to the beach it's all worth it. I went to "La Bocana" in Santo Tomas where they have camp grounds as well as cabins with running water and electricity. Overall it was a fun, interesting adventure! I would definately go again. There are enough things to do to go more than once.
