Wow - I only bother to write reviews when things are really good, or really bad! And boy oh boy, what a find! Hotel Avenida has been newly refurbished (2010) and is surely due a reclassification from its one-star rating very soon. Enjoy it for the bargain price of €59 a night (tax and simple breakfast included in July) before that happens! Maria at the front-desk was super friendly and helpful. The location could hardly be more central and there's a small supermarket just down the road too plus nearby roadside parking (but you have to keep pumping the meter every two hours.) Free WIFI, central AC, double-glazing and beautifully firm beds are the cherry on the cake. We have stayed in hotels charging €200+ a night that aren't a patch on this beauty! Beautiful exposed brick feature walls give this place real style. A fridge in the room would've been perfect but now I'm being picky! Seriously people, look no further.

The Avenida is family run, small and very friendly. The breakfast was good and more than sufficient. The staff were helpful and professional. Great Place.

We struggled with our directions to locate the hotel which is on a busy road and the car parking is away from the hotel in a public underground car park. We just dropped off our luggage first then parked the car. Our first impression of the hotel was one of friendliness and welcoming. The staff answered any questions and queries with good local knowledge. The hotel itself is perfectly located for sightseeing with modern updated furniture and facilities. The free wi-fi is a modern day necessity and very useful for us. We had been advised that there was a lot of noise on the front rooms of the hotel and we stayed in room B201 which was down several steps after leaving the lift, but be careful because the passage light does not come on until half way down. The room itself was pleasant, airy and a reasonable size for two people. The furniture was sparse but this was made up for with the granite architecture. Typically, as in most Spanish hotels there were no tea or coffee making facilities and the television was all Spanish. The bathroom was well equipped with a very good shower, although the bath itself was too small for northern Europeans. A hairdryer would have been a bonus. There was a lack of soundproofing between the rooms. The continental breakfast was basic but adequate.

This is a good value one star hotel in an excellent location. We had a large room with a modern bathroom and a very good shower. Furnishing is on the minimal side with nowhere to sit but the beds are comfortable. The room was spotlessly clean. The staff are helpful and speak excellent English. The public area is very limited and the breakfasts poor - but there are plenty of alternatives nearby and at the price you can afford to cut your losses with the breakfast. For a one star hotel, it is a good choice.
