We stayed here as we were attending the Bruce Springsteen concert in Monte do Gozo which was literally 300 metres away. Very clean if a little basic but very affordable and a nice location on the hillside overlooking Santiago

This hotel is great if you're on a budget. We paid €50 per night per double room and that included a fab buffet breakfast - all you can eat! There is a pool in the campsite nearby and parking is free. The hotel is some distance from the city centre - not 3k or whatever the blurb says...but taxis are cheap enough - about €7. This hotel is not fancy and is presented in a series of bungalow type buildings, but it has everything you need, the rooms are immaculate and include private bathroom and tv, and the staff are very helpful and speak some english too. There's even a pharmacy and supermarket for paracetamol and water after you experience the nightlife of Santiago! There's also a bar in the complex that's open late and is quite chilled out.

As a budget, pilgrimage accommodation, Monte do Gozo probably ranks well above average. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean, the heating and plumbing work, and the beds are good.

Drawbacks, in my eyes, were
1- The location is far out of town, making city sightseeing less convenient.
2- The site looks grim, like a prison compound.
3- The cafeteria is huge and can get very noisy.

On balance, if you want all the essentials and some modest comfort on a shoestring budget, or if you need accommodation for a large group traveling together, Monte do Gozo is well worth considering.
