First of all, I must refer that this hotel is no longer a member of the Tryp hotels, and has changed its name to Torres de Compostela Hotel (TC Hotel).
I have stayed in this hotel with my husband during a congress he had in A Coruña (no hotels were available there!), for 2 nights. It was our 2nd time in Santiago and we chose this hotel based on the price (60€ for a stardard double room excluding breakfast). It is located in the residential district, about 20 min walking from the gorgeous historical center. In fact, if its your first time in Santiago or you want to explore the cathedral zone I would not recomend this hotel. There are lots of hotels in the center that will make your stay more special and fun (there are lots of typical restaurants and bars there!). The good thing about the location of this hotel is that it is very clore to the department store El Corte Inglés, wich has a huge supermarket where you can find everything at reasonable prices.
Upon our arrival, we asked for an upgrade to a suite (110€ including breakfast). The suite had plenty of space and was comfortable, decorated in a modern way. The amenities were regular. The breakfast was OK for the price (had good churros!) and the staff was nice and attentive. It had a free private parking.
Overall, I would say that this is a good choice for business travelers but if you want a memorable romantic trip, then you must stay in the city center wich is absolutely fabulous.
