We spent 2 nights at the Gelmirez on a room only deal. The hotel is nothing special but not too bad. The staff not unpleassant but didn't seem particularly enthusiastic.
Positives: easy access to shopping streets and the old town was less than 10 minutes walk. The room was warm but air conditioned and clean.
Negatives: Our room was very dated with a very small and not especially firm bed. The bathroom was oddly laid out - toilet paper on the wall out of reach from the toilet, not possible to stand under the shower. We were offered "free parking" for €9 per day(?)

Well, this hotel is certainly not in the class of other Hesperia or NH hotels that I have stayed in but the staff is very, very warm and professional. The gentleman that checked me in was so nice and helpful as we arrived late and needed to park the car (across the street). The cleaning staff was warm and ran after us after we had left a charger behind.
What is not up to snuff for any star hotel, is the room itself which seems a bit Spartan, although in line with being in Santiago de Compostela- a pilgrimage site. The rooms had a terrace but we could not enjoy them. The furniture is a bit rough and the bathroom is not on par with bathrooms in Spain which weigh on the side of luxurious stone and marble. Still, if one is in Santiago, this is an option that is reasonable and friendly. There was free wifi on the lobby for I believe thirty minutes. There was an Italian restaurant around the corner that was a great spot for a late bite which the man at the front desk recommended , which was so helpful.

Good location near the center off a busy street. The staff was helpful and gave great restaurant suggestions. The rooms were OK. The only problem is that is focuses on tour groups, so the lobby is often packed and chaotic, the desk staff hard to talk to, and the restaurant at breakfast was a bit overrun. The breakfast was OK , not great. It lacks atmosphere, but it's fine.The internet use is NOT free.

This hotel is very near the train station up RUA Horreo. It is quite a climb and the street itself is very busy. Parking(which I did not use) costs €7 per day. The hotel is clean and comfortable and is an adequate 3 star place. A short walk takes one to the cathedral.
Breakfast was good.
