This "Hostal", now a Parador, is one of the grandest hotels in Spain. Located on the main square right next to the world-famous Cathedral de Santiago, this 15th-16th c. building is a marvel of architecture. Beautifully restored and maintained, it how houses one of the very best hotels. The public rooms are genuinely grand both in proportions and appointments. The individual rooms range from very nice to superb, the latter having enormous marble baths, canopied beds, and large sitting areas. I have visited this Parador on 5 different occasions. My one reservation regarding this hotel, observed on the last 3 visits, is the main dining room. The food seems to me to be curiously bland. Obviously a lot of effort has been made to present the dishes in an attractive, even luxurious, way with all sorts of garnishes, etc. Still, the taste is unimpressive. Nevertheless, this incredibly beautiful building, with its attentive staff, grand appointments, and historical ambiance is well worth the price. Here, one can live like a noble from the past at reasonable present prices.
