“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2009

We booked this hotel based on some earlier recommendations, but were very disappointed to find one of the worst hotels in its class!

The non-smoking room we got had a very strong smell of smoke, so we asked for another, and got one just above the entrance: so the smokers, standing outside all day and most of the night, would emit their smoke right into our room. Disgusting.

They have a "pillow-menu", but the pillow ordered was nothing special (like most standard pillows in Spain), in spite of the fancy names given.

The air-conditioning was not working (anymore... in Sep?), so we had to keep the window open. There was also a greasy smell, as if we were close to the kitchen.

The location is far away from the center of town, but the promise of sea views convinced us. However, most rooms do not face the sea, so the views are NOT worth it. The area around the hotel is interesting though, with the statues park and the Tower of Hercules.

Reception does speak English, but is very uninterested in the guests, and "favours" asked (like calling a taxi) are almost met with a DEEP sigh.

Breakfast is OK.

There is free parking, but they allow cars to be parked in the middle of the lot too, which makes it impossible to leave!

“Large, clean, modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2009

This is a huge, modern hotel. The room and public areas were well kept and very clean. Didn't go for the breakfast because it seemed very expensive.

Although the hotel is about 15-20 minutes walk from the centre of La Coruna, it has a pleasant location on the cliffs, not far from the Torre de Hercules. There are small, clean beaches nearby - these were very busy with locals. There is an excellent - every 5-10 mins - bus service from right outside the hotel into the centre, but little in the way of shops & restaurants in the immediate area.

Service was pleasant and friendly. The parking was very limited, but there is ample parking in the streets outside within view of the hotel.

“Tower of Hercules within 1,000 metres and tremendous sea views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2009

Having been to A Coruna almost 50 years ago I knew it was best to head for the Tower! We did and didn't take a wrong turning, finding the hotel signs were almost all going the same way.

The rooms were not as soundproof as we would have liked, but the presence of about 150 teenage footballers as guests, attending a regional tournament, would have been a challenge for any hotel! This was good as the parking was not very generous and would have been a problem if larger numbers of adult guests had been present

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2008

The hotel is on the edge of a large but quiet residential area, on the headland right next to the Sculpture Park. The air conditioned rooms are a good size with a large bathroom, complete with whirlpool bath. One drawback is the lack of public spaces, a very small bar, lounge and outdoor area. However there are two small beaches nearby and a large grassy area on the headland.

The walk into the centre is along a very nice promenade and takes about 30 minutes. Alternatively, there is a very frequent bus service from outside the hotel, 1 Euro each trip or the tram from the end of the road, 2 Euros each trip. If you take the promenade in the other direction, the Playa de Orzan can be reached in about 20/30 minutes.

The Sculpture Park next to the hotel is a very large area leading to the Tower of Hercules, with many footpaths, seats and of course, sculptures.

A good hotel in an ideal position for exploring both parts of A Coruna.

  • Liked — The quiet but convenient position.

“Nice Hotel, very good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2006

Excellent modern and clean room overlooking the sea. Very quiet. Parking outside. A distance from the town centre but regular bus service, a taxi is about 5 euros. We were able to park faily easily in the centre of this lively town where we ate.

  • Liked — The relative tranquility and high standards
  • Disliked — The rain
