We stayed in Ferrol on our way from north-central Spain (Limpias) to Porto in Portugal. We decided to tour this rather untoured area of northern spain and so we took the long way around the coast instead of heading in a straight line.
The Parador in Ferrol is a great hotel. The room is very comfortable, the atmosphere is fantastic with all the maritime furniture and pictures on the walls. The room is of nice size and the bathroom is rather small but adequate (as opposed to the other paradors we visited, where the bathrooms were enormeous and very well maintained.
The hotel is spotless but there is a serious parking problem there since the parking lot is rather small is and is shared with the Spanish navy, which doesn't allow anyone to park in their spaces, even on weekends (the guard yelled at us for trying).
The Parador is hard to find and thank god we had the GPS to help us navigate the tiny streets and alleys.
Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.
Ferrol itself is nothing more than a shipyard town. Very gray and boring. Avoid unless you have a specific reason for being there.
