Fortunately we only stayed one night at the Hotel Espana...
After a long motorcycle ride from Portugal, we were met by a surly individual on reception. Following a complicated procedure to park our bikes in the dedicated parking spots, we found our third floor twin room. Very yellow, very faded, not particularly clean. Beds were noisy and creaking, waking you up every time one turned over.
Bathroom/toilet was a disgrace. Sorry but there's no other way to put it. Imagine having to adopt a crouching, knees bent, back straight position to shuffle onto the toilet tucked behind the hand basin...Contortionists may find the easy, but not me at my time of life.
Major screw up over the availability of breakfast. Resolutely forbidden to enter the hotel restaurant, we were eventually permitted to eat a dry croissant in this kind of cafeteria thing with the lady ubergruppenfuehrer overseeing our every move. Couldnt wait to leave.
Sad.
