I've been staying here regularly for a number of weeks on business. It is a nice hotel, much more comfortable than the local NH Atlantico, although I would not class this as a 5 star hotel, more 4 star.
On the plus side it has very comfortable beds, the rooms are nicely furnished and the bathrooms are well appointed with good showers, something I find very important. The food is pretty good, a good selection at breakfast and some nice well cooked food in the evening - although the same dish is often served in a number of different ways week by week! The public areas are classy and comfortable and a nice touch every evening in reception is the free cava, sherry and bowl of sweets. Most of the rooms have fairly decent views over the harbour or marina. The air conditioning is generally very effective and quiet, although I have had a couple of rooms where is wasn't quite so effective and a little noisier.
On the down side the most obvious thing is the poor English of a number of the staff. Please don't think I am arrogant and expect everyone to speak English, this is not the case at all. In fact when travelling the only place I expect to be able to speak English is a decent hotel, especially a 5 star one, but this is very hit and miss in this hotel and can be problematic for any situations/requests out of the ordinary. There is also no English menu for dinner, although the room service menu has English translations, but it can be hit and miss if the person taking room service orders can speak English. The service is very slow in the restaurant and bar for dinner, although this seems to be as they focus on getting room service orders delivered, which are always very quick. The carpets in some of the rooms could do with a good deep clean. They do a good job of airing the smoking rooms, as I have stayed in a couple and they don't have lingering smells, although you do sometimes get the smell of smoke into the room from the corridor/other rooms.
The leisure facilities are actually part of a local health club of sorts, taking up the whole of the lower ground area, with a separate entrance for the locals. This can be good and bad. It means there are many more facilities than you would normally expect, including 3 big outdoor pools, a children's pool, tennis courts, a decent size gym and more. On the down side it means it can get busy, especially during summer holidays, and the outdoor pool area is a bit of a concrete jungle. But I personally think this is an asset, and would much rather this than a tiny pool and a couple of gym machines you get in many hotels. It's just a shame there is no indoor pool as winter arrives.
