“Great central hotel, good value but staff could crack a smile now and then though!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2010

I stayed at the NH Atlantico for 2 nights in September whilst visiting La Coruna and the surrounding areas. The hotel was right in the centre of town, very close to shops and restaurants and also adjacent to the cruise port. Most of the main areas of interest such as Sir John Moore's tomb and Maria Pita square are within walking distance but the main beach is a little further away so you would perhaps need to catch the local tram or a taxi. We had local tour guide from the Spanish tourist board taking us on a walking tour and a coach tour of the town and peninsula who was very informative and I would definately recommend doing a guided tour if you can. My room was very big and overlooked one of the main squares which I was dubious about at first because of noise issues but I had no problems at all. The bathroom was also huge and had all the neccessary toiletries needed. My only gripe is that the staff on reception were a little frosty, even when attempting to speak a little basic Spanish to them they answered in English and didn't seem to know how to smile! All in all I found the hotel good value for money, in a great spot and I would definately stay again.

“Good basic hotel”

I stayed in the Atlantico for 3 nights in June, I will list the pros and cons below:

Pros: Good vaule for money, helpful staff, clean rooms especailly the bathroom, good central location.

Cons: Quite basic rooms in terms of quality.

The Atlantico is a good hotel if you are looking for good value for money and a no frills hotel room. I would rate the room as average, with the bathroom being above average, but aside from that there is nothing special about this hotel.

“Central, comfortable, convenient - coming back soon!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2009

Booked the Atlantico on the recommendation of a friend for a long weekend. Location is close to the city centre, convenient for shopping, sightseeing, etc., but a little further from the city beaches (which are excellent). Atlantico is mainly a business hotel and only offers a (limited but OK) room service menu at weekends, but that's not a problem given the range of restaurants only a short walk away. The accommodation is what you'd expect of a quality business hotel, the breakfast generous and varied, and the staff friendly and helptul (even if they didn't manage to sort out my TV remote control). Not the cheapest option in Coruna, but you get what you pay for, so it's good value for money.

“Excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2007

This is a modern, spacious hotel with generous sized and nicely appointed rooms. Located close to the port and the old town, it is an
ideal base when staying in the town. Especially good was the large bathroom - with a full range of toiletries provided. Rooms either have a view of the leisure centre on the sea side, or of the town across a square of the land side. Inland is best! Breakfast was excellent - full choice of anything you could think of.

Not much English spoken in these parts but the reception staff were ok and courteous.

I got a room rate inc breakfast of € 96 and felt it was good value.

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2006

NH Atlantico is a good hotel for a weekend break in La Coruna. Only 5 mins walk to both the main shoppng area, and the beach. Its also close by he Paseo Maritimo which offers a great circular walk of La Coruna along the water-front. The hotel breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice. We stayed in a standard twin room. The room had air-con which worked well, although a little noisy. . We borrowed umbrellas from the hotel, and the reception staff were efficent if not a little frosty. The hotel looks ugly from the outside, and we didn't try the restaurant, but overall, the hotel was value for money paying Eur65 p/night.
