Incredibly tiny, unclean rooms. Rude staff. Excellent breakfast though...

Our family of 2 parents and 2 teenage boys stayed in one room with 4 twin beds and a bathroom. We paid extra for the breakfast buffet and enjoyed the variety of food options offered.
Pros: The room was adequate, but was an internal room so the only view was off an air well in the center of the building. The room had 2 different areas, each with 2 beds and a TV. We were grateful for the air conditioning—a must in July! Lobby had a computer (though it was slow) with internet for guests. We walked to the hotel from the train station with our small wheeled luggage and it took about 15-20 minutes.
Cons: Room was not ready at check-in time which meant rearranging our site-seeing schedule.

The Hotel Ubis is well-located, close to both the Rambla Nova and the Roman Forum, and within easy walking distance of all Tarragona's sights, shops and monuments. It is also adjacent to the bustling covered market, where there is a colourful array of fresh food. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, the beds comfortable and the breakfasts generous. The hotel's Cocula restaurant is excellent, offering a changing fixed-price menu both at lunchtime and in the evening, using fresh produce from the market.
We were due to stay for four nights, but were stranded when our return flight was cancelled due to the Icelandic volcanic eruption. The hotel staff were very sympathetic and helpful, and, due to a late cancellation, were able to find an extra room for us, which was a great relief. They were also helpful in other ways, providing advice, printing off itineraries, etc.
We would definitely recommend the Hotel Urbis to other visitors.

We stayed at this hotel on Decembre 2007. We found it very nice, located in the city centre, we could get everywhere on foot: coliseum, cathedral...
Maybe rooms were a little bit small, I would say as frequent in Europe.
Breakfast buffet was also good, with fresh sliced fruits, several different breads, toasts, saucisses... and a little bit of everything.
Reception staff were very friendly.
Nice restaurants and places to see on the area.
Next to the city market, with an underground parking, wich makes easy to keep the car, but we found place on the street without paying anything.
If a go to Tarragona again, I will go back at the same hotel.
