“a week in a cupboard!”

just back from a great week in sitges the only down side being the hotel celimar! the room was so small we had to move the bedside cabnets into the bathroom to move round it! we asked for another room but to no avail,we offered to pay for an upgrade ... you guessed it to no avail! we had no balcony only a small window! we found the hotel clean and staff friendly but will certainly not be back. it claims to be 3 star but i do not believe it for a minute. i have stayed in sitges many times and found even budget hotels like the el cid to be of a better standard.do not waste your money like we did book somewhere else....!

“very Good Position”

This was our 5th annual holiday in Sitges and up to now have always stayed at the lovely Calipolis Hotel. On this occasion we decided to have a change and stayed at the Celimar,a good tip is to reconfirm your booking with the hotel a day in advance before travelling as you may end up in the Celimar central in town.
The hotel only has 25 rooms so overbooking in high season may occur.Compared to the Calipolis the rooms are very small and when i arrived was a little disappointed, but after a night the room became more appealling it had a sea view on floor 3 with a large window that opened and a lovely view of the beach and sea.
The Hotel staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you,the bar is tiny and needs updating as do some of the rooms with maybe pictures flat screen TVs and little personal touchs.we found the hotel spotless and the maid who serviced the room everyday very good keeping it nice and tidy for us.The breakfast was not very good a buffet laid out between 8am and 1045am i am sure at 8 it was ok but by 10.30 it was less appetising we therefore did not eat there more than once.
On the whole the hotel is perfectly situated and fine for one weeks stay, having been spoiled the previous years i have decided next year to return to the Calipolis slightly more expensive than the Celimar but i think worth every penny.

“Attempt to scam!”

Just a BIG warning to travelers to Sitges! We booked an beach front suite at Hotel Celimar PLAYA for TWO weeks. When we arrived by cab, they informed us they were overbooked and moved us to their other location Hotel Celimar CENTRAL. We were furious because we had just confirmed our reservation prior to leaving the U.S. and were assured everything was fine. We hauled all of our luggage MUCH further than they told us the other hotel was only to find that we were to stay in one of the smallest rooms I have ever seen. Once we put our luggage down, we had to climb over it to get to the bathroom. I will say, it was clean, but TINY! Oh, and let's not forget about the Mediterranean view we paid for?! Now our view was of a crowded alley filed with clotheslines of laundry. A two week stay in this closet! Not going to happen! We dropped our bags and trekked along the streets of Sitges desperately looking for another place to stay immediately. Hotel after hotel were fully booked! Luckily, the owners of Hotel Liberty (great guys!) did not have a room but were extremely sympathetic when we told them what had happened to us and offered us a two bedroom apartment they rent, albeit quite a walk away, but nonetheless, better than what Celimar had given us. We were VERY lucky! We were also lucky that our travel agent went to battle for us and the Hotel begrudgingly refunded us. What was amazing is that Hotel Celimar was not sympathetic at all to why we were upset. Don't trust this hotel!

“A Good Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2006

We stayed on the top floor of the Celimar Playa in their "suite", This was a nice sized double room, shower room with toilet and a large jucuzzi/hot-tub room with a skylight directly above it, very romantic! The balcony is completely private and quite large, although it has high walls which you have to peek through to see the amazing view, it is a suntrap though, probably a bonus for those fond of sunbathing au natural!

The TV was a mix of European stations, couple of decent music channels.

The breakfast buffet was good and plentiful, nice service from reception, staff and lovely cleaners, they have a bar/ coffee shop downstairs which seems pretty empty but they do good coffee and you can sit directly outside th hotel and watch the sea and characters of Sitges. All in all we got what we paid for.

Not only did we arrive in a state (I picked up the wrong suitcase at airport....don't ask!) and they rang the airport for us and really calmed us down, we also left our laptop in the room on departure! Obviously noting that we were a couple of jellyheads from the get-go, they sent up a cleaner to do a final check...and a good job too, THAT is good customer service from a 3* hotel!

“Ideal location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2006

I stayed at the Hotel Celimar Playa for 5 nights (July 2006). The hotel is ideally situated with the promenade and beach right across the road, and the main bars, restaurants and shops 2 minutes away.

I had requested and received a sea view room and although I was not allocated a balcony, the courteous staff apologised when I checked in. The room was of an adequate size with 2 single beds, fresh decoration and a clean bathroom with toiletries, linen and hairdrier.

The breakfast (which was all inclusive) was served from 8 - 10.45 and there was plenty of choice.

On the down side, the design of the building laminate floored rooms meant that it was very noisy as any doors being slammed echoed throughout the building and noise from the rooms above and alongside could be heard throughout the night as other guests walked on the hardwood floors or moved furniture. The plumbing made noises whenever other guests turned on a tap or flushed the toilet.

The beds were extremely hard.

The staff were friendly and helpful and all in all the room cost about £90 per night. Reasonable value for money considering the location but the noise from other rooms did had a down effect on the overall enjoyment
