I have just spent 4 nights in this hotel from 17th October-21st October, 2011. I spent time here with work, for a conference, and the hotel was superb for this – it seemed to be set up to cope with large conferences perfectly and things ran like clockwork.
Check in was quick, easy, friendly and efficient. I had a room on the 6th floor with a view over the mountains, sea and a small beach below. The room was large and clean with a balcony. There was a large double wardrobe with plenty of storage space, a large double bed, a flat screen tv, a mini-bar and a large ensuite bathroom with bath and shower and toiletries. There was a safe in the wardrobe which was included in the price of the stay. I didn’t hear too much noise from my neighbours and I slept well here. The black-out curtains worked well and the beds were comfortable.
Breakfast was served from 7am – 10.30am and it was served in a lovely modern space. I thought breakfast was excellent here with plenty of choice for both continental and cooked foods as well as a selection of teas, coffee and fruit juices. I ate in the hotel bar 3 times while I was here and felt that the food was reasonably priced and decent quality. The reception area and dining areas were bright and clean and modern. Some of the artwork on the walls is beautiful. Any staff I came across in the hotel were friendly and efficient.
WiFi was not included as part of my stay. However, they allowed me to sign up for a loyalty card scheme and simply by doing this I got free WiFi for the duration of my stay. Otherwise it would have cost me 14 euro/day which is very expensive in this day and age.
Just to mention a few negatives and the reason I gave this place a 3........there were no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms. The water in the mini-bar was charged at an extortionate price. My room was rather dated and smelt a little musty and in need of a refurb to match other areas of the hotel such as bar and dining room. There were no drawers in the room and hence nowhere to put things like electrical goods so they just had to sit out for the duration of my stay. The shower wasn’t fantastic and the bath wasn’t too clean. The channel choice on TV for English viewers was pretty terrible. There was a rather noisy dog close to my room who barked a lot and the local train also ran past my room several times per day and night. On one of the nights of my stay a truly terrible smell seemed to come either from the bathroom or out of the air vents in the ceiling, and engulfed the whole room in the early hours of the morning – it was pretty disgusting. I think if I were picking a hotel for a holiday I probably wouldn’t pick this one. The pool area although nice, was very small and enclosed with no view to the sea. As has been mentioned on here may times before the hotel is a short walk out of town as well.
There is a small marina is located behind the hotel and down a number of steps. I thought this marina area was beautiful. There are a number of nice restaurants and bars and a few small shops down there. There are beaches on either side of the hotel. The sand on the beaches is lovely soft golden stuff and the waters were lovely. A short walk (15 minutes) takes you into Sitges which is a medium sized town with a long palm tree lined prom, long beaches and an abundance of bars and restaurants. There are plenty of traditional Tapas bars and lots of shops to explore in the back streets. I think while I was here, even though the weather was gorgeous, the season was drawing to a close and everything was very relaxed, laid back and the beaches were almost empty. I imagine in the summer time the place must be buzzing.
Just to finish I want to say the conference auditorium was an excellent space with the most comfortable chairs, great AV and lovely staff at the doors. The entire area was clean and bright and ideal for our conference. The tea/coffee breaks and lunches provided by the hotel were also great.
All in all I had a pleasant stay here.
