I highly recommend this hotel to anyone touring Girona. Absolutely great location. You are half a block from a bridge to walk into the old city and to see an unforgettable view of the old city with the Cathedral above; and you are an easy walk from loads of restaurants, cafes, etc. The hotel itself provides large, clean, and modern rooms and bathrooms. The restaurant in the hotel is pretty good and worthy of taking a meal here. Nice spread for breakfast. Even though I had read warnings that parking would be an expensive 21 euros, the person who checked me in, while telling me of the nearby 21 euro parking garage, also told me where I could park for free outside not too far away. I went with that option and it turned out to be just fine. Note to drivers: once you are in Girona, start following signs to the hotel Ciutat de Girona. You will eventually hit an arrow pointing you down a narrow stone road. Take it, and when you get to the metal barrier in the street, look for the little call box on your left. There is a call button for the hotel and they will let you proceed so that you can check in and drop your bags before deciding where to put your car. This was a really nice hotel and I highly recommend it. Three of the most minor complaints: wish the eggs were kept warmer at breakfast, as someone else commented - the funky design of the sink is annoying but I don't see doing anything about that until the next remodeling, and I did at times here the annoying sound of someone walking around their room with heels (either next door or above me) - brought back memories of being married:-). Street noise was no problem- insulated windows. Great shower and good sized bathroom.

Situated in the centre of Girona, next to the newer up market shops but very close to the old town, Ramblas and bridges over the river (by very close, I mean 1 minute away!). Perfect spot for a short break in this beautiful city. Rooms are modern and minimalist but very comfortable. If you prefer appartments they also have them (Nord) across the street. Breakfast is okay in the Blanc Restaurant but there are more authentic restaurants for lunch or dinner. There is also a trendy but friendly coffee bar (La Fruiteria) next door. Now live in Girona but stayed in this hotel frequently when house hunting and standard of rooms and service was always consistently good. Can be a little bit pricey at times but you will pay almost the same price elsewhere in the city for much less quality.

We stayed in one of the "family rooms," with our three-year-old daughter in the room adjoining ours, and we were all very comfortable. The reception staff were concerned that our daughter would feel lonely in a room by herself, and offered to show us a triple room instead. We were charmed by their concern and care, but we chose the family room, and were very happy. The arrangement of the rooms allowed us to leave our door and her door open, and there was a secure common door to the main hallway. It meant we had our own little private vestibule, and we could hear her if she needed us during the night, but there was plenty of space for us all to relax.

The rooms are very chic and the bathrooms are lovely, with possibly the best shower I've had anywhere: private home, hotel, Europe, America, anywhere. Tons of water pressure, huge shower head, and the feeling of bathing under a warm waterfall. Bliss.

We found Girona to be a great destination for travel with a small child, and the hotel's location was ideal: walking distance to at least four playgrounds (and the train station), and so close to the gorgeous old city and the Passeig de la Muralla, which is a must-see.

I can't recommend the hotel and the city more enthusiastically. Everyone we encountered was so kind.

Quite simply, this hotel is fantastic ! The location is fantastic, the rooms are fantastic and the staff couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was fanastic !

Girona is beautiful, so easy to get to from Barcelona (get Barcelona airport train to Barcelona Sants station then get train heading to Figueres, Girona is one of the stops on the way and the Renfe trains give you updates so you know how many stops Girona is away).

The old town in Girona and the city walls make a brilliant walk and believe me you'll be ready for a cold Cerveza afterwards.

I couldn't recommend a trip to Girona and the Hotel Ciutat de Girona with higher regards !

A must !!!!!!!

Thanks :-)

The hotel is located on quiet street close to major attractions and about two blocks from the river. It's maybe maybe a 10 minute stroll to/from the train station. It's a four star business class hotel with a modern decor and spacious rooms. Clean. Free WiFi. The breakfast is somewhat basic, however, real orange juice is readily available from one of those fancy crushing machines (yeah). Pleasant staff.
