Ciutat (see o tat) is the Catalan word for city and the hotel Ciutat is a stellar city centre location with friendly efficient staff, beautiful well appointed bedrooms, a good quality adjoining restaurant and is within a few minutes walking distance of all the attractions Girona has to offer. On leaving the hotel a few steps to the left leads onto C Santa Clara the most fashionable shopping street in the city. Turn left along Santa Clara and stroll along to Placa Indepenencia the loveliest square in town with many cafes and restaurants to choose from. By far the busiest is Frankfurter Konig 2 serving good beer and tasty reasonably priced tapas. On the way back to the hotel along C Anselm Clave lurks the bar/cafe Babel, a really lovely place managed by Antonio from Madrid. Babel is lively at night and serves a wide variety of drinks and good quality tapas. Close to the hotel is the bridge les Peixateries designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1877 and this is a must stop for photographers and artists alike. Having spent 4 nights in the Hotel Ciutat I thoroughly endorse Trip Advisors choice of this hotel being the number one in Girona.More
