“Simply marvelous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2010

I just came home from a very pleasant week in Barcelona, not in the least thanks to the charming B&B Amiga where I stayed. I went to do some research for my doctoral thesis, so I needed a quiet room (which is not always easy to find in Barcelona). Based on the positive reviews on tripadvisor, I choose to book a room in the B&B Amiga. I got a quiet room indeed, but so much more! The most friendly host Margaritha spares no endeavor to make the stay of her guests as pleasant as possible: a splendid breakfast, charming and clean rooms (with WIFI), access to the lovely library, a cup of coffee or tea whenever you felt like one...and not to forget the nice talks!
A real gem!

“Couldn't have helped more!”

My sister and I had the worst possible welcome to Barcelona - our documents, cards and money were stolen just after we arrived at the main bus station at 2130. Luckily, I was talking on my cell phone when it happened. We called Margarita and she told us to take a cab, she would pay. She even loaned us some money the next day so we could take buses and eat. In the morning, Paqui took us to the police station to make the report. No one could have helped more.
As a place to stay, it's great. Rooms are fine. Everything is so clean. Breakfast is good and there are tea, cookies and fruit available all day. It is a little out of the way but that is clear from the description and it is only a few minutes walk to the Metro. Restaurants are hard to find nearby so, if you book, eat your main meal in the middle of the day. There are plenty of places for a snack.

Lovely house & bedroom, delicious full breakfast, nice & friendly owner, really well located in Barcelona, a lot of public transport. The house, bathrooms, lavatories & bedroom are really clean, tidy and peaceful.
If you need to go to Barcelona, don't miss this address.

“Warmth, hospitality, and value: a gracious home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

A friend and I had planned to rent an apartment while visiting Barcelona so we could feel at home instead of living out of suitcases. We chose Amiga Barcelona (based on stellar TripAdvisor reviews) for our first few days before finding an apartment. To our delight, this exceptional B&B and its warm, generous owner, Margarita, were just the "home" we were looking for, and we stayed a full two weeks. Our rooms were cozy and comfortable, and the eclectic decor throughout the B&B was inviting. Breakfast offerings were among the best I've encountered while traveling, from fruit, juices, yogurt, and cereals to croissants, French bread, cheeses, and cold meats. Jams, marmalade, nuts, Nutella, hot chocolate, a wide variety of teas, and coffee rounded out the meal. Snacks (cookies, chocolate, nuts, tea/coffee/hot chocolate) were available throughout the day as well.

The location of the B&B is a quiet residential neighborhood not far from the Vallcarca Metro station, which is on the L3 (green) line, the handiest to the sights most visited at a number of stops just a few minutes farther downtown. It was easy to change lines and find buses from this location, and the quiet of Amiga Barcelona's neighborhood was a plus. There is also a market a few doors down on Gomis, and a parallel street a block away with a bank/ATM, cafes, pharmacies, small clothing stores, a bakery, and a deli.

Visiting with Margarita and other guests made our stay truly memorable; a library and the large dining area were comfortable common areas that made this part of our daily routine. Travelers (from Germany, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, and the US while we were there) enjoyed sharing the experience of an intimate home away from home. Thanks to Margarita for creating such a lovely B&B and for all her sage advice and hospitality!

“Margarite provides a warm, homelike atmosphere in a quiet neighborhood near the metro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2010

Our stay at Amiga Barcelona B&B more than met our expectations. In addition to a bedroom, we had access to a dining room, library, and patio where we had the chance to mingle with proprieter Margarite and the other guests. The breakfasts, which consist of a wide variety of cereals, fruits, yogurts, muffins, juices, teas, and coffee, are ample and delicious. The place is attractive but not fancy and a five minute walk to the Metro. If you are looking for more of a home stay than a hotel, you can't do better than Amiga Barcelona.
