I've been to this hotel last weekend with my boyfriend. As i entered the room I felt like entering a cellar: poor lightning, windows which show on a patio (no light) and stiff air (air con not working). I must say, rooms where quite clean. We never had breakfast at the hotel so I can't judge about that. Girl at reception got confused when we were leaving, and wanted to charge me 50 € more than planned (not on purpose of course). Location is pretty good! Plata Catalunya is very close. I wouldn't say that this hotel is a 4-star superior! But it was alright for 1 weekend.

The pictures look real good on the web but when you get there you wont be so impressed. The hotel is very minimalistic which is not bad in itself but there are quite a few basics missing. No mirror in the bedroom. Basic hygiene of the rooms really poor. bedsheets not clean. Carpet stained. Breakfast very basic buffet style but then again it was only 10 euros a head per day if you eat every day you are there. The beds are uncomfortable. People are still smoking in their bedrooms even though it is banned (no 'no smoking signs' up anywhere) and you can smell the smoke coming through the vents in the rooms.
The air con does not work. We were cold throughout the night. Staff are pleasant but few.

If you are on a budget but do not want a crappy place, I'd recommend this hotel. Stayed at a room with a double bed and a separate part with a bunk bed. The room is clean and fresh. Toilet has a rain shower and a jacuzzi bath tub. View of the school. You can feel when the subway passes by. It is 8 minutes walk to pl de Catalunya where the airport bus stops and hop on and off bus. 3 minutes to La Ramla from pl de Catalunya. Helpful 24 hour receptionist. The bed is hard but not as bad as the beds in Italy.

We booked this hotel as a 4 Star property. At best it earned 2 Stars. Our initial impression of the lobby (ripped leatherette furniture) was that we had entered the wrong door, as this was a hostel, not a 4S hotel. The floor of our room had indoor/outdoor carpet with 2 large stains, the air con was not operating and was only fixed when we requested to move rooms. No restaurant, only a buffet breakfast. Really very limited facilities.
It is well located, but this area of Barcelona (Eixample) has a large number of hotels. If you are booking and paying as a 4S hotel, you will not be impressed.
