Ok look, it's true, this hostel is kind of 'crappy'. But this is exactly how hostels are supposed to be. Too many people book themselves into hostels expecting 'hotel quality accomodation'. I really don't care about certain things that others seem to get hung up on, because every day I was out all day (there's too much to do in this city) and would get back after dark. There was a clean bed and hot water there, so that's really all I care about.

This location is PERFECT, it's on the main street of Barcelona, yet about a 7 or 8 minute walk from the city centre square, so it's far enough from the hustle and bustle. If location and price are your two most important factors, stay here.

I will stay here next time I'm in town.

Two weeks I ago I booked a room through your website at the Hostel Rambla de Catalunya at Rambla de Catalunya n. 84 in Barcelona. While staying at this place it seemed to me that this place did not meet the legal requirements to be open to the public. This place did not count with the basic security rules such as fire extinguishers, emergency exits, basic hygiene, etc. I feared for my own security and the security of other guests at this place. Besides, the photos at the website are deceitful.

In addition, we encountered a problem with the booking of our room. When we arrived to this place the double private room we had booked was already occupied and we had to go to another one with inferior standards. While being there we spoke to other customers with the same experience.

My backpack is stolen in my room!!!! I lost my passport, resident permit, bank card, student card, cash and all my important documents!!! >.< I have to go to police station, embassy to make my new documents and have to cancel all my following travel plans!!! I will never stay in hostels any more. it is a nightmare for me!! there are many nice hostels or hotels in Barcelona, don't choose this one, trust me!!!
This is how the thing happened:
i stayed in a 10 bed shared room. At 9am I went to the toilet, and when I came back to my room, I found my backpack was no longer on my bed!!!!! My roommate said there was a black man came into the room and took the backpack. He could just come into the hostel freely and no one stop him!!!! And there is no camera installed!!!!
There is also another theft happened in another room!!
I heard this is always happen in this hostel!!
And there is no wifi in the room, you have to go to the corridor.
Okay, you can still choose to stay in this hostel if you want to have an unforgettable memory in Barcelona!!!

In short: it was horrible. Our first room was like in the army. There were a single bed, a bunk bed and a wardrobe. You could hardly move in that little room. Fortunately we managed to exchange it for a bigger. It had a private bathroom but it was also extremely dirty! Breakfast was always the same and not so good. There were loud outside on the corridor every night. Its only advantage is the location.
