“Located a Dentist”

The location was wonderful, easy to find, and last stop on airport bus - no guessing about where to get off. Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet at night. Wonderful street sounds in the day from the narrow little street in front of the hotel.
On our last morning at 9:00, a crown came off my tooth at breakfast; we were to board a ship in the early afternoon. Shelia, at reception, located a dentist for us who would meet us at 11:30. The dentist arrived a few minutes early, replaced the crown with directions of "Don't eat on that side until evening." We were on our way to the cruise terminal at 12:00. Problem solved! Charge 100 euros, a very fair price for emergency Sunday service for a non regular patient. We would most certainly stay at Hotel Catalunya any time we are in Barcelona. THANK YOU, SHELIA!!

“Good, clean and comfortable”

The location is great! The room we got was nice and very clean, also they have free wi-fi which is important since most places in Barcelona don't. The bathroom was also nice but the shower had really no preassure.
The receptionists were all okay but the best one was the evening girl which gave us really good tips for eating and going out.
I got really mad about the fact that they offered us one price and then a discount for it which sounded good. Next day we figured out that the discount was actually because we had no breakfast for that price and if we wanted breakfast we had to add the same ammount we had goten off. We then had to move becaus there was no place and figured out that the hotel across the road charged 10 Euros less for the same kind of room and including breakfast.

All in all a good place but could be great if they avoided the charge thing...

“Excellent No Frills City Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Room was clean and comfortable. Location ideal and excellent vegetarian restaurant (I never thought I would say that)in the same street. Free internet & wi-fi too. Next time I return to Barcelona I will re-book here.

“Great little city break Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Situated very close to the touristic center of Barcelona, everything you need is never more than a short walk away from the Old Town to the beach or the city bus tour it is all there. There is the market of souvenirs on las Ramblas or the quality shops around Catalunya Square. The hotel is small but nicely decorated and has a feel of quality. The staff were very helpful and for such a budget price offered 5 star service. The internet room was very useful. Because of its small size breakfast was available from a cafe opposite where the service was brusque to say the least and the food basic and poor compared to surrounding cafes. My advice is don't bother. But this is a small negative on an otherwise excellent little Hotel. I would choose it again.

“Lovely home base for Barcelona visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We loved the Hotel Catalunya. It was clean, comfortable and secure. The staff spoke English well and were very helpful in providing information on sights, transportation and restaurants. While we were there the weather was very hot and kind of rainy. Our room was lovely with the windows open and cool and comfortable when we had to close the windows for rain. The computer room and wi fi were both helpful to us in arranging expeditions and contacting home. The hotel is just a block off La Rabla with lots of pedestrian traffic out front, yet with the windows closed it is completely quiet and comfortable.

Room Tip: We had a quadruple room on the first floor which we liked very much.
