The hotel rooms are modern, but without feeling cheap, and there is none of that 'fashion over function' stuff that makes it hard to work out how to switch the lights on!
Breakfast was great- fresh juices, fruit, cereal, breads, pastries, ham, cheese etc- a really good selection.
The swimming pool gets the sun all day and there were plenty of sunbeds.
Location-wise, the hotel is in Sarria, which is about 3 stops from plaza catalunya on the metro. The positive side of this, is that you are in a MUCH quieter area for sleeping, and you get a lot more hotel for your money. I know Barcelona very well, and some of my favourite restaurants are within a 10-15 min walk from here, so there is really no need to go into town every evening for the tourist rip off places!
Check out these for dinner-
La Burg (gourmet burgers in sarria)
Vivanda (spanish/catalan in sarria)
Tram Tram (posh spanish catalan in sarria)
Gouthier (specialises in oysters but loads more tapas, in sarria)
Dos Torres (spanish, halfway between sarria + tres torres)
Acontraluz (spanish, as above)
Hope this helps- and if you want a great late bar/ club to go to, Elephant is great. Amazing terrace, gets busy from 11.30...
