“Ultramodern hotel a bit far from the action”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011 via mobile

Very trendy, ultramodern hotel on a reasonably quiet street.
The hotel is firmly in the hospital and clinic region of Barcelona and one imagines that visitors and patients make up the bulk of the clientele.
The room was bright and clean with a good view up the mountain. The bathroom was so busy being trendy it lost a little usefulness (flat sink that drained very poorly - very awkward to shave in; shower head slowly traveled downwards during a shower; no bath).
The location is a drawback. There is a good bakery a block and a half away and a nice Tapas place (50 Pino) two blocks away - but otherwise choices for lunch and dinner are limited (the French restaurant 2 blocks away (St Remy) looks pricey and pretentious so we didn't try it).
The subway is about a ten minute walk (quite steeply uphill on the way back). The stop (Sarria) connects to the Placa de Catalonia in about 20 mins. We found this fine to go to the tourist centre in the day but a pain to go in for food in the evening.
In all a good hotel if you have reason to need to be in that area - but not for the average tourist.

“Lovely rooms but slow service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

It is a very stylish hotel and the rooms are spacious with good quality fittings. The aircon was good and bed comfortable.
Only issue was the service that was very slow. There seemed to be only one person covering the bar and reception.
Overal a nice hotel but not the right location to enjoy the main sites. This is a good hotel for the university/school.

“Great hotel, outstanding staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

I was really impressed with the quality of this hotel, given the rate we were paying for it. The staff on reception were very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms was very impressive with a floor to ceiling picture window. The room design was tastefully modern and had an array of useful features such as the ability to control the blinds from the bedside.
We only had one breakfast there and it was OK - standard fare and nothing spectacular. The food delivered by room service was excellent, very fresh and tasty. However, it did seem to take an awful long time to arrive on the two occasions we had it.
For us the location was great, reasonably near the metro and some good looking places to eat within walking distance. Although we were caught out - again - by the fact that restaurants don't seem to open much before 9am.
The staff were the real highlight of this place - I can't rate them highly enough.

“Barcelona”

A very chic and modern looking hotel, 20 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes walking l distance to the metro station. Good: the interiors, good value for the money, breakfast. Not so good: hotel is inferior than it looks in the picture. No restaurants near by. Some components of the breakfast were stale.

“Lovely hotel when we stayed 2 years ago, falling to bits now!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

We fell in love with this cool, ultra modern hotel 2/3 years ago on our first stay so decided to return again. What a shame, the place is falling to bits and we were moved room 4 times until we found aa acceptable room. The new manager was great and did her best to satisfy us with an upgrade for a night to the suite which is lovely and champagne etc. Despite this we were dissapointed, water leaks out of the showers on the floor in one of the rooms there was a problem with the wooden floor which was dangerous, telephones missing off the walls, lights that didnt work, holes in blinds, algi floating around in the pool, the list goes on, lots of small things but far too many for a hotel of this standard.

We won´t be going back, which is a shame as we always remembered this hotel so fondly.
