We stayed for 4 days and nights in Silken Diagonal during the cold month of february. And that explains the 'but' in the title and the three stars. The hotel has (had?) problems with the heating, mainly in the lobby and the restaurant, and some of the rooms.
When we complainted about that we got an upgrade and a nice compensation, but it is a pity.
It is beautifully designed, it is very well located (100 meters away from the Glories Metro Station - Red Line) and the staff is very friendly.
We payed early booking rates and it was more than worth the money.
If we had stayed there during the summer I would probably have given a five star review.
Some practical tips: the breakfast isn't cheap but it's worth it.
The restaurant of the hotel is very good, but if you're very hungry you should choose a whole menu (so including a starter and a dessert).
The tapas in the piano bar are great and they serve (in the piano bar and the bar in the lobby) very good red wines (and not expensive).
If you're arriving at Terminal 1 at the airport very late, you shouldn't take the night bus, it is very slow. The aerobusses bring you in a half an hour tot the placa espana where you can catch the red metro line until 'Glories'. There you have only one exit. If you get out, you continue your way at the direction of the Torre Agbar (an enormous tower), if you turn right around the corner you're at the avengida diagnonal. The hotel is a bit furher.
