“Amister 4*”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Well, I have couple of things to say. First thing first, the hotel is really good and to a high standard for a price we paid for our holidays it was really good! The bedroom had a King size bed, big closet, and big bathroom with toiletries provided. However, the cleanness of the bathroom was not to the highest standard for a 4* hotel it could have been much better! One day our room did not get cleaned, thus we had to request room service ourselves, which was at 5pm when we came to the hotel to relax after a long day in Barcelona. Not so good.
From the brighter side, the breakfast was quite ok, apart from the fact that it was not included in the price and is 11 euros per person, so it brought the price up of the room in the end as breakfast is one of the essential things you like to have when you are on holidays.
Location of the hotel is quite convenient as its a third stop from the airport by train Barcelona Sants station. However, one should bare in mind that it is quite a walk from the station to the hotel especially when you have a suitcase with you approx. 15-20min, but the district is safe so if you dont mind walking its convenient. All in all, I would say, that the hotel was convenient to stay in for 4 days we stayed and was a good value for money. Would recommend it as it is very new and to a high standard.

“I enjoyed the hotel and WiFi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The room was really nice. The workers were very hospitable and the WiFi was awesome. The WiFi was covered in the entire building. Also, breakfast was included and absolutely delicious!! The eggs....gotta get them. Fresh fruit! Fresh juice! Bacon, eggs....the works!! It's lit to reply cute with snowflakes dangling from the floors and the set up of the hotel is so unique. As far as location, its not too far from the La Ramblas. It was a 6euro cab ride to get the the La Ramblas. It's still downtown, but away from all the hustle. I definitely would return. My only suggestion would be to have more English speaking tv channels, since you're located in a tourist area. Just a suggestion

“Good, not very centric hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I spent 5 nights beginning of December in Barcelona. The hotel is not close to the center of the city and it takes some walking to reach the metro station or bus station. For example, it takes about 20 minutes walk to reach piazza Espana walking, but it would also take pretty much the same amount of time by means of public transport.
The rooms at the hotel are spacious, the bathroom and the amenities just fine. I stayed at the room with the view to the inside of the building, and would not recommend the view, so book a room with a better view. The safe box in the room was not working, and they never fixed it, although the staff was asked several times. Also, in my room the wifi connection didn't work, so I was provide a cable for a lan connection.
The breakfast was OK, except when there are large groups, the staff cannot provide on time service, simply because there is enough of them.
All in all, the hotel is a good choice for the money, the only thing is that it is just not very conveniently located to the public transportation.

Room Tip: Do not choose a room with the interior view.

“Nice hotel for a short trip - business or pleasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Stayed two nights at the Amister in November 2011 for a conference. The rooms are modern, bathrooms are a good standard, all was clean and tidy. Note that there are no irons in the room. It is a short walk from the main train station where you can get shuttles to the airport. This is not the heart of Barcelona but the Arena shopping center is not far, nor is the Placa d'Espanya. Placa de Catalunya is a bit further - maybe 20 minutes by foot.

Breakfast buffet was quite good - selection of meats and cheeses, breads, fruit, etc. Most people should be quite satisfied here.

Large conference room in lower level is not ideal - no windows and two poorly-placed pillars make it awkward. But if you are not using this facility and only need a hotel as base for tourism or business, this is a fine choice.

“Nice hotel for a city break.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We travelled to Barcelona in Oct half term for a week long break as a family of 3. We booked a superior family room at this hotel. We stayed for 8 days. The hotel was very clean. It was within a 10 minute walk of the nearest Metro Stop - Hospital-Clinic. We had the breakfast for 5 days of our stay which cost 30 Euros per day for the family. The breakfast was of a decent standard and we found it helped set us up for the day as it meant we were not wandering around trying to decide where to go for breakfast. (We had enough of that at lunch and dinner) The hotel is only 3 stops on the metro (with 1 change) from the Place de Catalunya and the heart of the city. We went to the Camp Nou twice and got a taxi back to the hotel after both games. Taxi cost 10 Euros first time and 7 Euros the second so very reasonable. We left the hotel at 5am in the morning for an early morning flight and the taxi transfer cost 35 Euros. All in all - this hotel is ideal for a break in Barcelona, not in the heart of the city but do not listen to reviews that say it is to far from the metro - it is at best a 10 minute walk there and we would often get a metro back and then have a drink and a coffee in one of the cafes, bars in the local vicinity which were far cheaper than in the city centre. Whilst in Barcelona if you are looking for a fun way to see the city have a go at a bike tour of the city run by this company. http://fattirebiketours.com/
