This was my 3rd time to stay at Axel and it was even better than the previous stays. I arrived at the hotel at about 1130am, which was nearly 3 hours early for check-in. The lovely lady on check-in, Marisol, informed me that because I am a regular guest they have upgraded my room and that it was ready for me now. This was much appreceated as I had been up since 3am and was very tired. The room was lovely, large, well furnished and I loved the glass fronted Shower.
All the staff would say hello/hola to me when ever I walked past and were willing to help me out with directions to places I wanted to visit. Breakfast every morning was fresh and service was great. After the 1st couple of mornings I didnt even have to ask for Coffee, Gustavo served it to me right away. As others have said the hotel is right in the center of things and there are cool bars ect within easy walking distance. The Ground Bar can be quiet during the week, but Shimai’s Drag Contest was great fun. There was a good mix of gay and straight guests at the hotel and I did get to chat with some of them. Axel people is good fun too.
I loved BCN. I will be back and would only stay at Axel Hotel. Thanks for helping to make this one of the best holidays I've had.

“Great Hotel”
I must admit, when I booked this through Expedia, I did not realise it was a gay hotel. Not that it makes any difference. It is hetero-friendly and despite the web-page, the place does not have a load of blokes in hot pants and angel wings singing Liza Manelli songs. Again, not that it makes any differences. The staff were all friendly, especially the front desk. Not so much the bar staff, who refused to sell wine by the bottle and then charged us 20 euro for four small glassess. No worries, we didn't drink there again.
Rooms were nice and spacious with bedding and towels changed daily. The artwork in the rooms is something you have to see with your own eyes!!!
Great location, only two blocks from Las Ramblas with loads of restaurants and bars nearby. Also close to the Familia Sagrada, Casa Mila and Casa Batillo.
One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. I would definately recommend this hotel, and will be back again.

“Well located botique hotel.”
The Axel has well appointed rooms, fitness cetner and chic rooftop bar. The location is close to Placa de Cataluyna and Las Rmablas. The hotel is gay oriented and thus this location provides easy access to the gay nightlife.

“Great hotel in a great city”
This is a great place. It fab to have a swim in the upstairs pool and have a great view of the city. I think that you had to pay for internet access in the room which is disappointing but that might have changed. The staff in reception are very helpful but the rooftop barstaff were not so friendly. This is a very stylish hotel in a great location. The best gay (hetro friendly) hotel in the world (other than their sister hotel in Argentina)

“Another excellent stay”
We had another excellent stay at the Axel!.. We spent 10 days at the hôtel this Time and are returning for a week on the 10th march for m'y partners birthday!!! As promises the director gave us an upgrade and we had a fantastic room ( that i hope we Will have again in march if possible as it was fabulous!!!) The staff were really friendly and we fell in love with the young lady from the Spa who was so so kind!! i unfortunately broke my toe whist there and within 30 minutes they had got a doctor to my room! Again perfect customer service!!!! We've also stayed at the Axel in Berlin which was excellent and the plan is to try and go to Argentina some Time soon!!!
All in all we love this hôtel and ALWAYS stay here when we come to Barcelona!!.
Really looking forward to our trip in march and hopefully to another upgrade and fantastic room :-)
