We have just returned from a two night stay at Hotel Coronado and have mixed feelings, which is a shame as it could be a great little hotel. I'll start with the positives - the location is great, just around the corner from Paral-lel metro station and like others have said, a 10 minute or so walk from La Rambla etc. Well connected to Sants Estacio and therefore Airport. It is well facilitated by bars, corner shops and restaurants (I particularly recommend Can Eusebio just down the road for cheap yet tasty tapas). The room was clean and warm and the bed comfortable. However ... the window let in no natural daylight at all - it was an interior room overlooking a small quadrant of pipes. At 1.30pm it felt like it could have been the middle of the night. I would not like to stay in this room in the summer! The bathroom is quite cramped and the shower floods the floor and can be quite unsafe. Breakfast is included in the price but my advice would be not to bother - it's very basic and isn't fresh at all - horrible machine coffee, squash not juice, stale magdalenas and the milk for the cereal was off. I would recommend the large restaurant/cafeteria/bar directly across the road for coffee and xuxos at a very reasonable price. To summarise - if you are looking for a clean, basic place to stay at decent price in the centre of Barcelona, this is a good option, just don't expect luxury.
