We were a bit anxious before arrival having read mixed reviews about this hotel, however we needn't have worried - it was ok really. The underground secure parking was ideal for our motortrikes, but getting to it was quite difficult as the surrounding roads were so frantically busy even at 9pm! We could see the hotel, just couldn't find anywhere on street to stop in order to run in and get directions for the car park! Staff on reception were helpful and sorted out an error in our booking without a great fuss.
The beds were clean and we did not find them uncomfy, the bathroom fittings were not terribly new and the shower head would not stay on the wall but there was lots of hot water and the toilet flushed so we managed ok. We had air con which was a bonus as apart from cooling us it also prevented us hearing 'people' noise but our friends had no air con so had a disturbed night. We had asked for a quiet room and were given this - it overlooked a courtyard.
At breakfast we realised what a big hotel this is. This was breakfast on a huge scale and not particularly relaxing. The food was fairly basic and some people had to share tables. Supplies of juice etc kept running out and there was a short delay while supplies were replenished. On the plus side, this hotel is close to the ferries and main motorways out of Barcelona so it met our needs, even if it was the most basic hotel we stayed in during our 3 week tour.

Me and my friend shared a room with twin beds. We had a big balcony and it was a big room. The WC was unfortunately small and not very smart designed. Extremely small shower. The breakfast was just 'ok'. Overall, I think it's a good hotel for the money you pay. Very good location!

What can I say about the Auto Hogar. We had real reservations about this hotel before we arrived in Barcelona after reading some of the reviews on here. First the good points, its cheap (for the location) and is a 10 min walk to La Rambla. The staff were friendly and helpful. Bed linen and towels changed daily. Now the bad. Our room was tiny and very cramped, the wall adjacent to the bathroom had damp patches, the air con didnt work, the door frame was rotten, the shower head snapped off on first use (they did replace it promptly though), very noisy (didnt bother us though), the breakfast area is a cattle market and you will have to share a table with other guests. The food was quite poor quality also. Conclusion, if you're looking for somewhere cheap and don't mind all of the above then go for it, if you're looking for a bit more quality then avoid at all costs. In a weird short of way the pkace does grow on you the longer you stay, after all its just a base to see the city.

This hotel is situated on Parallel which is a six minute walk from Les Rambles. The rooms are compact with the basic necessities. They are clean and the beds are comfortable. I got a very good rate for room only for three nights stay.

Their is a computer at reception with internet but it is quite costly at 1 euro for six minutes. I would recommend internet cafe instead.

The toiletries are little plastic sachets so would recommend to bring your own toiletries along.

The staff were very nice but it would be three star rating hotel. If you are looking for rooms on a budget this is the perfect hotel for you .
