Checked in a 1 stay stay over the Bank holiday weekend on May 30 fresh from 2 nights over in Sitges. Checkin was a tad surly & abrupt, the guy on checkin seemed very flusterred even though there was only 2 in line. He obliviously was not too good at his job as when we got back later that night the key card did not work & different people on reception seemed to be aware & validate key card with no bother.
After checkin we were escorted up to room by security guard/concierge for some reason. Room was a good size on 4th floor over looking down stairs patio area & back of hotel, window which opened fully, which was nice. Large bathroom with tub and with very large range of toiletries & stuff, even after shave gel !!! However water was only lukewarm as tried to have a bath. Otherwise no faults. Shower was fine & soaps & shampoo on wall dispenser.
Beds were comfortable & long and air con seemed good. Lots of wardrobe space & fridge with limited space owing to hotels own products. Overall good sized room with lots of space & light.
Free internet in the lobby too for 20 mins so able to print boarding passes and check email. You need to ask front desk for the codes to be able to log in.
Did not have breakfast in the hotel so cannot comment, paid 76 e for 1 night which I think is pretty good for a Spanish chain 3 star hotel. There is a cafe/coffee shop next door which does good coffee & croissant or for a treat go to the market & have fresh juice (loads of combinations) all 1.50 e or quiches or coffee & croissants & pastries or even a bowl of prepared fruiys again all 1 or 1.50 e.
The location is pretty good a few minutes from the Ramblas along Calle Hospital however later at night becomes a litle unsavoury with ladies of the night and some "soft drugs" vendors, but just keep walking & ignore them, No threat or feeling of unsafeness, however you are in Barcelona so you must always be wary.
Ate at El Convent near the market at night which was nice & had Tuesday lunch at Le Quinze Nuits in Placa Reial again both good.
