We ordered 4 nights at this hotel, the location is perfectly reasonable near the Square of Catalonia, when we arrived we found that the hotel is very outdated carpeting dusty ,The room was outdated and did not justify the high price we paid for a double room deluxe with a window, we asked the manager to leave in the next day he was polite and agreed to charge for the night one, and indeed we moved to a hotel near by named Onix_Rambla_Hotel, much cheaper new rooms excellent location. we spent three more nights and it was lovely.

We just returned last night from a 12-night Med cruise and stayed here 1 night pre-and post-cruise. I can't say enough superlatives about this place and the girls who run the desk. Simply wonderful!
It felt like we were "home" when we came back after the cruise. The sitting lounge is so baroquely beautiful and was a great place to meet with our group of friends who traveled together. The included white or rose wine on tap, juices, Pepsi's and Estrella Damm beer, plus the nuts, olives, etc. made for a terrific happy hour.
We were surprised at the selection of hot foods prepared at lunch - rice or pasta dishes, chicken, veggies, and all were yummy. Loved the selection of delicious breads as well.
Yes, the rooms are a bit small and pink, but the beds were firm and comfy and everything you could need was there. A big plus was that our rooms were ready when we arrived on both mornings.
The girls at the desk couldn't have been more helpful, from offering recommendations for dining out to giving directions to attractions.
Another plus is that there is a taxi stand just across the corner, making it very convenient for getting to the port or airport.
I should point out that there are about 10 steps to negotiate with your luggage before you get to the small elevator, so this could be a problem for those with poor mobility.

Barcelona isn't my favorite city, but the Hotel Continental Palacete is definitely my favorite hotel in Europe! I will recommend it to all of our friends and hope to get the chance to stay there again.

My sister and I chose this hotel on the recommendation of our travel agent and the reviews on TA. It wasn't all bad - the location was great, right in the middle of things; the buffet (included in the price) was great the first night when we arrived late, and tired; the staff was helpful enough and spoke English (we especially liked the young woman who was on duty the first night).

However, we booked a double room and requested twin beds and we got a queen-size bed in a room that was so tiny and dark you could barely walk around. Also, the buffet offerings never changed, so it looked much less appealing after the first night. Given that this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our two week trip (Sevilla, Barcelona, Provence), we did not feel it was worth it. At all.

We stayed here do to a recommendation in Rick Steve's book. It was wonderful! We had a balcony room overlooking Las Ramblas. We loved being able to sit out on the balcony and watch the street below. We did not want a sleek no -character hotel for our trip to Barcelona. The staff was the best. They helped with all our questions and directions. We enjoyed the 24 hr bar and took advantage of the beautiful patio. It was so close to everything and the metrol was easy to catch, as were the busses. We will definitely stay again our next trip.
